Evaluation of Five-Star DT Marvin Wilson at The Opening

July 20 -- Scout National Analyst Greg Powers breaks down the game of Marvin Wilson with Amy Campbell at The Opening finals...

Evaluation Notes:

Marvin Wilson, at 6-foot-4, 332 pounds has as high of an upside as any prospect in the nation. He was one of the top testers running an impressive 5.20 40-yard dash and a 4.56 pro-agility shuttle. His 106.47 Nike+ Football Rating was tops for DTs.

He had had some highs and lows in the one-on-one competitions, as I can never recall a time before this that he was taken to the ground, but in pads that competition is what you are looking for in an elite camp setting.

He had wins and losses against the best and all of the top offensive linemen were wanting to match up with him as he was by and large considered to be the elite of the DL group from not only a ranking standpoint, but also a physical size standpoint.

Wilson easily has a five-star upside and wit continued technique development once he arrives in college you can see that he could possibly also develop into an NFL DL prospect because of his combination of testing results and size.

He played multiple techniques.

Wilson benched pressed 225 pounds 23 times.

Recruiting Notes:

Wilson has named a Top 10: Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas, UCLA and USC. He reports he will announce a top five before the start of the football season.
