2018 UCLA Recruiting Board: Defense

July 30 -- With the summer camp circuit done, we take look at who UCLA has offered on defense in the 2018 class...

It's still a little over 18 months until the class of 2018 can sign.

But it's never too early to take a look at which prospects in the 2018 class UCLA has offered.  And UCLA used their Bruin Elite Camp to make a number of offers to 2018 prospects.

NOTE: This list is just 2018 defensive prospects we know that UCLA has offered through the spring evaluation and summer camp period.

Defensive Tackles

After a banner year in 2017, the defensive tackle class in the West will be way down, with only a small handful of targets really making a name for themselves early but UCLA has offered two of the best, both from strong programs.  Letuligasenoa played next to incoming Bruin Boss Tagaloa and the two are close.

Tuli Letuligasenoa, Concord (Calif.) De La Salle

Mykee Irving, West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade

Taron Vincent, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Trevor Trout, St. Louis (Mo.) Chaminade Prep

Masry Mapieu, York (Neb.)- Committed to Nebraska

Other Names to Know:

Bryson Blackmon-George, Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins

Paul Maile, Salt Lake City (Utah) East

Tommy Togiai, Pocatello (Idaho) Highland

Moa Heimuli, Salt Lake City (Utah) East

Defensive Ends

UCLA has yet to offer a defensive end in the 2018 class but there are certainly some guys worth watching in the class from the West.

Other Names to Know:

Samson Reed, Kahuku (Hawaii)

Kamakani Crosby, Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure

Adam Plant, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman

Sal Spina, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco

Elijah Wade, Las Vegas (Nev.) Arbor View

UCLA has offered a trio of linebackers from the West, and two of them were at the Bruin Elite Camp in Masina and Tuliaupupu, while Gaoteote, the top defensive prospect in the West in the 2018 class, already has an early offer and the Bruins are high on his list.

Palaie Gaoteote, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman

Teradja Mitchell, Virginia Beach (Va.) Bishop Sullivan Catholic

Solomon Tuliaupupu, Claremont (Calif.)

Salua Masina, Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton

Other Names to Know:

Merlin Robertson, Gardena (Calif.) Serra

Omari Harris, Antioch (Calif.)

Adrian Jackson, Denver (Colo.) Mullen

Victor Terry, Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins

Darien Butler, Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne

Eli'jah Winston, Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic

Raymond Scott, Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne

James Townsend, Encino (Calif.) Crespi

Cornerback recruiting will be interesting for UCLA in 2018, especially if they land who they could land in 2017, but the Bruins have offered several players already.

Olaijah Griffin, Mission Viejo (Calif.)

Isaac Taylor, San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine

Bookie Radley-Hiles, Calabasas (Calif.)

Tyreke Johnson, Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy

Patrick Surtain, Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage

Asante Samuel Jr., Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas

Christian Tutt, Thomson (Ga.)

Other Names to Know:

Marcus Johnson, Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins

Braden Lenzy, Tigard (Ore.)

Desmond Talley, Long Beach (Calif.) Poly

Elisha Guidry, Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta

Kyler Gordon, Everett (Wash.) Archbishop Murphy

Expect more safeties to emerge out West outside of Woodbey and Crosswell during the fall, but right now, the pickings are slim.  Woodbey has UCLA on his very short list with Ohio State and he's the No. 1 safety nationally in this class and is a Ground Zero product.

Jaiden Woodbey, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco

Otis Reese, Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County

Derrik Allen, Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter

Other Names to Know:

Steve Stephens, Fresno (Calif.) Edison

Aashari Crosswell, Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins

Julius Irvin, Anaheim (Calif.) Servite

Stephan Blaylock, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco

Phillip Mills, Menifee (Calif.) Paloma Valley

UCLA just offered Hufanga this week and it was an offer he'd been hoping for. He plays quarterback for his school but projects as either a safety or outside linebacker.  Sterns is another versatile two-way threat.  Keep an eye on Taua, the younger brother of Ainuu Taua.  He's more of a running back/outside linebacker type.

Talanoa Hufanga, Corvallis (Ore.) Crescent Valley

Caden Sterns, Cibolo (Texas) Steele

Other Names to Know:

Toa Taua, Lompoc (Calif.)

Kobe Smith, Gardena (Calif.) Serra

Malone Mataele, Orange (Calif.) Lutheran

Ely Doyle, Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany

Matthew Tago, Quartz Hill (Calif.)

Tennessee Pututau, Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood
