Anthony Barr (Kevin Brown/Viking Update)

Status of Bruins in the NFL

Aug. 10 -- It's our annual look at how Bruins are doing in their NFL careers, including some veterans and others trying to make an NFL squad...

Akeem Ayers (Rams)

                -Season: 6th

-Notes: Back home in Los Angeles and excited about it. Projected to be starting strong side linebacker

Anthony Barr (Vikings)

                -Season: 3rd

Notes: Coming off his first Pro Bowl season, Barr is positioned to emerge as one of the elite linebackers in the league. Side note: If you are ever feeling down, go watch the Barkley hit…it’s glorious

Caleb Benenoch (Buccaneers)

                Season: Rookie (5th Round)

Notes: Probably a 50/50 chance of making the roster at the outset of training camp. A high ankle sprain on 8/1 dimmed those chances further. Still, lots of time left

Jake Brendel (Cowboys)

                Season: Rookie (UFA)

Notes: Will battle for back-up center roster (against another UFA) spot on a very talented Dallas OL

Malcolm Bunche (Eagles)

                Season: 2nd

Notes: Was cut in last pre-season game and subsequently signed on Eagles practice roster. TBD if he makes the 53-man roster this year.

Kenny Clark (Packers)

                Season: Rookie (1st Round)

Notes:  Having a really good camp thus far. Packers are very excited about his future. May start Week 1

Thomas Duarte (Dolphins)

                Season: Rookie (7th Round)

Notes: In spite of Davey’s post, Duarte did not become African American since he left UCLA. He has, however, put on quite a bit of weight since his departure (reportedly nopw 245 lbs.). We are no “Phinsider” at BRO but, from what we gather, Duarte has a pretty decent shot to make the squad

Shaquelle Evans (Jaguars)

                Season: 3rd

Notes: Hasn’t found his footing yet since being drafted in the 4th round by the Jets. On the bubble to make the Jaguars roster

Ka'imi Fairbairn (Texans)

                Season: Rookie (UDFA)

Notes: In battle to win starting kicker position/roster spot

Kai Forbath (Saints)

                Season: 5th

Notes:  Having a good camp but in a heated competition with Connor Barth to win starting job

Devin Fuller (Falcons)

                Season: Rookie

Notes: Missed entire off season due to hamstring. The 7th round draft choice has an opportunity with the Falcons recently cutting Devin Hester. Will be watching roster cuts closely here

Cory Harkey (Rams)

                Season: 5th

Notes: Undrafted TE has carved out a real nice career for himself. A personal favorite of Rams Coach Jeff Fischer, Harkey will see significant burn and is a lock to earn a roster spot

Mike Harris (Vikings)

                Season: 5th

Notes: Out with undisclosed medical condition. Return TBD. Was competing for starting OG prior to being sidelined

Brett Hundley (Packers)

                Season: 2nd

Notes: Packers really like Brett. Ensconced as 2nd string QB to The Bachelorette winner's brother. Had a real strong pre-season last year and followed that up with a great of-season and training camp thus far. Going to be interesting what happens with Hundley as his stock rises and if he plays himself into a trade via him being too good not to be on the field

Myles Jack  (Jaguars)

                Season: Rookie (2nd Round)

Notes: Like all UCLA rookies, Jack missed all mini camps due to the academic quarter system. Jack has already drawn rave reviews for his athleticism and seems to be working his way up the depth chart. Has been healthy thus far and good chance he starts the first game of the season @OLB

Datone Jones  (Packers)

                Season: 4th

Notes: Huge year for Datone. The Packers passed on their team option. Jones has shed about 25 lbs. and is now playing the Elephant role (think Charles Haley position wise). Has shown flashes however has been a disappointment given where he was selected. Has had a really nice camp and was a late bloomer at UCLA so the hope is that is the same with the Packers

Eric Kendricks (Vikings)

                Season: 2nd

Notes:  Coming off a great rookie year, Kendricks is poised to emerge as one of the top linebackers in the league. Health permitting, he will be a multi-year pro bowler

Marcedes Lewis (Jaguars)

                Season: 11th

Notes: Lewis has had a really nice career. Is currently having “his best camp in years” and will tandem with Julius Thomas to form the best TE duo in the league

Jeff Locke (Vikings)

                Season: 4th

Notes: Slated to start for the Vikings. Has had some inconsistencies but the Vikings like his leg talent. Has been having a nice camp

Cassius Marsh (Seahawks)

                Season: 3rd

Notes: Has carved out a nice niche for himself early in his career as a special teamer and situational pass rusher. Recently switched to OLB and is in competition to win the starting job there

Kevin McDermott (Vikings)

                Season: 4th

                Notes:  Starting long snapper.

Rahim Moore (Browns)

                Season: 6th

Notes: Signed a one-year deal with the Browns. Trying to hold on to starting safety spot

Owamagbe Odighizuwa (Giants)

                Season: 2nd

Notes: Injuries derailed his rookie season and was only active for four weeks. Giants really like his athleticism and the immediate goal for Owa for this year is to develop into a situational pass rusher

Logan Paulsen (Redskins)

                Season: 7th

Notes: Re-signed with the Redskins for another year. Expected to be in the rotation as a TE

Jordan Payton (Browns)

                Season: Rookie (5th Round)

Notes: Missed OTA’s but has already made an impression. Likely to make the Browns roster at this point

Paul Perkins (Giants)

                Season: Rookie (5th Round)

Notes: Has had quite a camp already at RB and Special Teams. He is competing for starting RB and lot of folks think he will win it

Sheldon Price (Ravens)

                Season: 2nd

Notes: Having a solid camp and looks to be in the Raven’s plans. Appears very likely to make the roster and likely to see significant action this season

Alex Redmond (Bengals)

                Season: Rookie (UDFA)

Notes: On the outside looking in for roster spot.

Xavier Su'a-Filo (Texans)

                Season: 3rd

Notes: Critical year for Xavier. Has had condition issues throughout his early career. Showed up to camp this year and “nailed the conditioning test” per Coach O’Brien. Listed as the starter at guard this year

Logan Sweet (Colts)

                Season: Rookie (UDFA)

Notes: It's uncertain if Sweet is still on the Colts' roster

Alterraun Verner (Buccaneers)

                Season: 7th

Notes: Had disappointing 2015 season. Was benched mid-season. Has already reclaimed his starting position however and is looking for a redemption year

Aaron Wallace (Titans)

                Season: Rookie (7th Round)

Notes: Suffered High Ankle Sprain. Out at least a few more weeks.

Jordan Zumwalt (Steelers)

                Season: 3rd

Notes: Hasn’t been able to stay healthy through pro career. In camp with the Steelers and is going to be challenged to make the roster
