UCLA Prospects In Games This Weekend

Aug. 26 -- Check out where UCLA prospects will be playing this weekend throughout the country as the prep season gets underway across much of the country...

***Game of the Week:***  Corona (Calif.) Centennial vs. Chandler (Ariz.)

UCLA commit Jaylan Shaw takes over in the secondary for the Huskies after being a reserve behind a loaded secondary a year ago.  He’ll matchup with Chandler receiver Johnny Johnson, a UNLV commit, in this interstate matchup.  Tanner McKee, Centennial’s four-star 2018 quarterback, takes over as the starter after splitting duties a year ago.  The Huskies also have 2018 four-star receiver Manuel Allen, who UCLA is watching early on.

Santa Anta (Calif.) Mater Dei vs. La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat

The Monarchs have a ton of talent coming back this fall, including UCLA commit Quentin Lake in the secondary, plus a number of other players the Bruins have offered in the 2018 and 2019 classes.  UCLA’s top in-state tackle prospect in 2018, four-star Tommy Brown, anchors the Monarchs’ offensive line while at receiver is 2018 four-stars Nikko Remigio and Amon-Ra St. Brown, who both have offers and 2019 prospect Horace McCoy.  Bishop Amat was hurt by graduation and could be down this year, losing Tyler Vaughns and Trevon Sidney.

West Orange (Fla.) vs. Winter Garden (Fla.) Foundation Academy

UCLA’s newest commit, quarterback Austin Burton, makes his debut in Florida when he leads West Orange against Foundation Academy in the season opener.

Roseville (Calif.) vs. Chico (Calif.)

UCLA tight end commit Jimmy Jaggers and Roseville get their season started against Northern Section program Chico.

Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon vs. Palisades (Calif.)

Sierra Canyon topped Orem (Utah) a week ago in their season opener, and open their in-state slate against Palisades with UCLA 2017 OL commit Kanan Ray leading the offensive line.

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade vs. Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian

One of the Southland’s most intriguing games includes big time prospects on both squads.  Chaminade has two Scout 300 prospects in 2018 that UCLA has high on their board, running back T.J. Pledger and defensive tackle Mykee Irving, to go with 2018 four-star quarterback Brevin White.  Oaks Christian has a pair of Scout 300 2018 prospects too, both USC commits, quarterback Matt Corral and outside linebacker Bo Calvert, plus the top tight end prospect in the country in Stanford pledge Colby Parkinson.

Calabasas (Calif.) vs. Agoura (Calif.)

The Coyotes begin what could be a state championship season with a game against Agoura.  Calabasas is loaded, featuring UCLA target Darnay Holmes , the No. 1 cornerback in the 2017 class nationally, plus 2018 four-star corner Bookie Radley-Hiles as well as a pair of Nebraska commits in quarterback Tristan Gebbia and receiver Keyshawn Johnson.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman vs. Cedar Hill (Texas)

A big national game features Scout’s defending national champions, Bishop Gorman, going to Texas to face Cedar Hill in a game on ESPN.  While Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell will start for the Gaels, 2018 four-star quarterback and UCLA target Dorian Thompson-Robinson will play receiver, split out next to 2018 four-star tight end target Brevin Jordan.  Defensively, two more UCLA targets lead the Gaels, four-star safety Bubba Bolden and 2018 four-stae linebacker Palei Gaoteote.  Cedar Hill has Notre Dame quarterback commit Avery Davis and Colorado receiver commit Jaylon Jackson.

Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) vs. Temecula (Calif.) Chaparral

An Inland Empire battle will feature prospects on both teams with UCLA offers. Rancho Cucamonga has UCLA cornerback recruits Thomas Graham and Jaylon Redd while Chaparral has 2018 offensive line target Justin Dedich and teammate Steven Jones, who the Bruins are watching, plus Cal commit and former UCLA recruit Michael Onyemaobi.

Provo (Utah) Timpview vs. La Mesa (Calif.) Helix

An interstate matchup has two of the best safeties in the West involved, with Timpview featuring Bruin target Chaz Ah You and Helix having Arizona commit Scott Young plus inside linebacker Ezekial Noa.

Sacramento (Calif.) Inderkum vs. Elk Grove (Calif.)

Before their matchup with El Cerrito next week, Inderkum, which has UCLA recruits in tight end Josh Falo and safety Trajon Cotton, plus prospect Victor Jones at defensive end, takes on Elk Grove.

La Mirada (Calif.) vs. Orange (Calif.) Lutheran

The Matadores, who won the state title last year, have a strong squad coming back, with UCLA cornerback recruit Elijah Hicks, tight end prospect Sire Woods and Colorado commit Chase Newman to counter OLu, who has Washington commit Brandon McKinney in their secondary.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian vs. Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei

UCLA’s first commit to the 2017 class was Salesian linebacker Rahyme Johnson, and while he decommitted, the Bruins are back recruiting him and he and teammate Deommodore Lenoir, a commit to Oregon, open their season against Verbum Dei.

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco vs. Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier

In an intriguing national matchup, a talented Bosco roster which features the No. 1 safety in 2018, UCLA recruit Jaiden Woodbey, plus more 2018 talent, like quarterback Re-Al Mitchell, who will make his first start, take on the Ohio powerhouse which has Clemson lineman commit Matt Bockhorst and Penn State quarterback commit Sean Clifford at the University of Cincinnati.

Buena Park (Calif.) vs. Pasadena (Calif.)

Buena Park is loaded this fall, with a pair of Cal commits on their roster, but no recruit is better on their team than four-star cornerback Elijah Gates, a big UCLA target this year.  And 2018 is good for Buena Park too, with four-star receiver Devon Cooley, who was offered by UCLA at their Elite Camp, their headliners.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins vs. Los Angeles (Calif.) Hamilton

Hawkins has the best receiver duo in the country, with the No. 1 receiver in both 2017, Joseph Lewis, and 2018, Jalen Hall, which should allow for Scout 100 receiver Eric Fuller, who the Bruins covet from the 2018 class, to do some damage.

Corona (Calif.) Roosevelt vs. San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon

Roosevelt has 2018 receiver target Chase Williams, a four-star who was offered at the Bruin Elite Camp, to lead their offense plus 2017 linebacker Richard Cage, who is on the Bruins linebacker board. Cajon has Washington State commit George Hicks in their secondary.

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly vs. Los Alamitos (Calif.)

The Jackrabbits are looking to get back to the playoffs since they were sidelined a year ago, and have some talent still in the pipeline, like 2018 four-star tight end Cam McDonald and 2017 three-star safety Josh Talbott, both who have UCLA offers.

Santa Margarita (Calif.) vs. Mission Viejo (Calif.)

The Diablos feature 2018 four-star cornerback Olaijah Griffin, one of UCLA’s main targets in that class while the Eagles feature USC center commit Brett Neilon and 2018 tight end Jake Peters, who has some Pac-12 offers already.

Other Games to Watch:
