Chandler gave the defending Pac-5 champs a battle, but a late defensive stand by the Huskies led to a 98-yard drive spearheaded by 2018 four-star Tanner McKee, who threw for 370 yards and two touchdowns in his first start. UCLA commit Jaylan Shaw had five tackles and two pass-breakups, including a crucial fourth down breakup that killed a late Chandler drive. While 2018 four-star receiver Manuel Allen had six catches for 130 yards.
Santa Anta (Calif.) Mater Dei def. La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat, 63-14
2019 four-star quarterback J.T. Daniels was 19-for-22 for 373 yards and six touchdowns and UCLA commit Quentin Lake had a tackle despite very little action on his side of the field. 2018 four-star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has a UCLA offer, had four touchdown catches from Daniels.
West Orange (Fla.) def. Winter Garden (Fla.) Foundation Academy, 36-3
UCLA’s newest commit, quarterback Austin Burton, had a nice start in his Florida debut, throwing for 188 yards and three touchdowns in a blowout win. Burton had a 73-yard touchdown pass on the second play of the game and then added a 60-yard touchdown pass late in the game, with a 30-yarder in the middle.
Roseville (Calif.) def. Chico (Calif.), 38-0
UCLA tight end commit Jimmy Jaggers had a touchdown catch and also started on defense, helping the Tigers defense harass the Chico quarterbacks with a number of hurries and a shutout in their opening win.
Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon vs. Palisades (Calif.), 36-0
Sierra Canyon improved to 2-0 and an offense featuring UCLA commit Kanan Ray on the offensive line had over 350 yards in making short work of Palisades.
Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian def. West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade, 65-55
UCLA 2018 running back target T.J. Pledger ran for 90 yards and three touchdowns while 2018 four-star quarterback Brevin White threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns, two to 2018 three-star Johnny Wilson, who also had 200 yards receiving, in the loss. USC commit Matt Corral threw for 407 yards and three touchdowns with two picks, in the win.
Calabasas (Calif.) def. Agoura (Calif.), 46-28
UCLA's top uncommitted defensive prospect, Darnay Holmes, starred on offense in the win, catching seven passes for 118 yards and three touchdowns.
Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman def. Cedar Hill (Texas), 44-14
Led by a stout defense, featuring 2018 UCLA target Palaie Gaoteote, who had nine tackles, 2.5 for loss, two hurries and a sack as well as 2017 four-star safety Bubba Bolden, who had three tackles, one for loss and a sack, the Gaels went into Texas and hammered Cedar Hill. UCLA 2018 quarterback target Dorian Thompson-Robinson played receiver and had a 32-yard reception.
La Mirada (Calif.) def. Orange (Calif.) Lutheran, 21-14
UCLA cornerback recruit Elijah Hicks had seven tackles and a 49-yard punt return to help the Matadores upset Trinity League program OLu in their season opener.
Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei, 69-0
UCLA linebacker target Rahyme Johnson had three tackles and a pass break up in a shut out win.
Buena Park (Calif.) def. Pasadena (Calif.), 63-6
UCLA cornerback recruit Elijah Gates had three tackles, one for a loss, and over 100 all-purpose yards in a blowout.
Antioch (Calif.) def. Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln, 67-38
The No. 1 player nationally, Najee Harris, had 219 yards on 10 carries with three touchdowns and added a 35-yard touchdown reception. The five-star also added two tackles and an interception on defense and had a two-point conversion for good measure.
