Big 10, Pac-12, SEC and Notre Dame All Fighting For Junior LB Palaie Gaoteote

Bishop Gorman showed why they're the No. 1 team in the nation after manhandling a Cedar Hill team many thought was the state's best this season. The Gaels won with a suffocating defense led by 2018 Scout 100 linebacker Palaie Gaoteote.

Gaoteote is currently rated the No. 11 overall recruit nationally in the '18 class and by halftime it was apparent that his ranking was probably a few spots too low. The athlete showed he's arguably the top linebacker in the west region right now, regardless of class and sure fire five-star prospect when rankings are updated.

Evaluation Update:

Gaoteote is the kind of player that you only need to watch for a few plays to see his immense talent and upside. He absolutely jumps off the screen when you watch him and has unlimited upside.

For starters, Gaoteote has an ideal frame at 6-foot-2 and a very athletic 210 pounds. His speed, pursuit and ability to run down plays from behind was evident right away. He's strong at the point of attack and can knock a blocker backward, does a great job disengaging and is a stout run stuffer.

He's fluid in space and moves effortlessly without a hint of stiffness. He shows a ton of fast twitch in his game, plays with a relentless motor and his passion is easy to see as well. He's a naturally tough kid, smart and instinctive and it's amazing to think he still has another year of H.S ball left following this season.

Recruiting Update:

With three of his teammates committed to Ohio State, there will be a lot of speculation that Gaoteote will end up in Columbus as well. That could definitely happen but we've heard several other programs including the Michigan WolverinesNotre Dame Fighting IrishUCLA Bruins and USC Trojans will be squarely in the mix as well.

Gaoteote attended a satellite camp put on by Michigan, said he grew up on USC football, has multiple teammates at Notre Dame and has a strong relationship with the UCLA coaching staff. The Auburn Tigers and Mississippi Rebels  out of the SEC have offered and you can expect that list to grow significantly sooner than later. The 'backer said he will likely go through the process and doesn't appear to be close to making an early decision.
