***Game of the Week:*** Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman def. Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco, 35-20
Scout’s defending national champions, Bishop Gorman, and current No. 1 team made it 42 straight wins with a comeback victory over Bosco. Two of UCLA's main targets at Gorman factored into things too with touchdown catches. 2018 quarterback target Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who is playing receiver this fall, caught a pair of touchdown passes from Tate Martell, a 49-yarder and a 44-yarder while 2018 tight end target Brevin Jordan added a 25-yard touchdown grab.
Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips def. West Orange (Fla.), 40-3
A loaded Dr. Phillips squad made it a long night for UCLA’s quarterback commit Austin Burton, keeping West Orange from a touchdown. Burton threw for 143 yards on 16-for-35 passing.
Corona (Calif.) Centennial def. Orange (Calif.) Lutheran, 42-14
After a heartbreaking loss to IMG a week ago, Centennial bounced back with a win over OLu and Bruin commit Jaylan Shaw and the Husky secondary slowed the Lancer passing game. 2018 four-star quarterback Tanner McKee threw for 313 yards and four touchdowns and ran for a touchdown. Manuel Allen, the 2018 four-star receiver for the Huskies, caught five passes for 97 yards and a touchdown.
Santa Anta (Calif.) Mater Dei def. La Mirada (Calif.), 48-0
The Monarchs recorded their second straight shutout, this time against defending state champ La Mirada. UCLA commit Quentin Lake had a handful of tackles and 2019 four-star quarterback J.T. Daniels passed for 387 yards and five touchdowns, including one to 2018 four-star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Bruin target Elijah Hicks had three tackles and a pass breakup for the Matadores.
Roseville (Calif.) def. Yuba City (Calif.) River Valley, 34-6
UCLA tight end commit Jimmy Jaggers did much of his work on defense and had a sack and helped Roseville improve to 3-0 in the win.
Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon def. Simi Valley (Calif.) Grace Brethren, 39-32
Sierra Canyon moved to 4-0 and a ground game spearheaded by the blocking of Bruin pledge Kanan Ray rushed for 239 yards and had over 450 yards in offense.
Portland (Ore.) Jesuit def. Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic, 56-19
Thanks to a big offensive line, led by UCLA commit Jaxson Kirkland, Jesuit rushed for over 350 yards in a big win in the Holy War. 2018 Scout 300 member Trey Lowe rushed for 337 yards and six touchdowns, including a 59-yarder, an 84-yarder and a 92-yarder to stay unbeaten in 2016.
Bakersfield (Calif.) College def. Chaffey (Calif.) College, 45-35
UCLA offensive line commit Ronald Rudd and Chaffey ran for 138 yards and had 458 yards in offense but it wasn't enough to outscore Bakersfield.
Upland (Calif.) def. Redlands (Calif.) East Valley, 44-34
UCLA’s crown jewel of their class, five-star defensive end Jaelan Phillips had 15 tackles, 11 solo tackles, four quarterback hurries, one tackle for loss and a pass breakup but REV fell short against Upland
West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade def. Valencia (Calif.), 42-15
UCLA's 2018 running back target, T.J. Pledger ran for 181 yards and two touchdowns and added a 49-yard touchdown pass from 2018 four-star quarterback Brevin White, who was 11-for-18 for 208 yards and threw two touchdown passes. UCLA's 2018 defensive tackle Mykee Irving had a pair of tackles in the win.
Calabasas (Calif.) def. Los Angeles (Calif.) West Adams, 51-14
Calabasas and Bruin target Darnay Holmes had no problem with West Adams. Holmes and the Coyote defense shut down West Adams' offense before the backups came in and 2018 four-star Bookie Radley-Hiles had a touchdown catch in the blowout.
Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian def. Montebello (Calif.) Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 62-0
UCLA linebacker target Rahyme Johnson had six tackles and three hurries to help Salesian to a shutout win.null
