UCLA Prospects In Games This Weekend- Week 3

Sept. 16 -- Check out where UCLA prospects will be playing this weekend throughout the country...

***Game of the Week:***  Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman vs. Kahuku (Hawaii)

Scout’s defending national champions, Bishop Gorman, takes on another state power when they host Kahuku of Hawaii. While Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell will start for the Gaels, 2018 four-star quarterback and UCLA target Dorian Thompson-Robinson will play receiver, split out next to 2018 four-star tight end target Brevin Jordan.  Defensively, two more UCLA targets lead the Gaels, four-star safety Bubba Bolden and 2018 four-star linebacker Palei Gaoteote.  Across the field is a talented Kahuku roster, who won the Hawaii state title a year ago and features UCLA defensive end target Aliki Vimahi and three-star running back Kesi Ah-Hoy.  Kahuku is also coached by a Bruin in former defensive lineman Vae Tata.

West Orange (Fla.) vs. West Palm Beach (Fla.) Oxbridge Academy

UCLA’s newest commit, quarterback Austin Burton, looks to bounce back after two straight losses when they host Oxbridge Academy. 

Corona (Calif.) Centennial vs. Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame

Centennial will be led by UCLA commit Jaylan Shaw in the secondary. Meanwhile, Tanner McKee, Centennial’s four-star 2018 quarterback, has started the year strong.  And the Huskies also have 2018 four-star receiver Manuel Allen, who UCLA is watching early on. Notre Dame has Arizona commit Kylan Wilborn at linebacker and receiver Tyler Asemota, who was one of the standouts at UCLA's Skills camp in summer.

Santa Anta (Calif.) Mater Dei vs. Upland (Calif.)

The Monarchs have a ton of talent and a slew of prospects UCLA is recruiting, including Bruin commit Quentin Lake in the secondary.  Plus there are a number of other players the Bruins have offered in the 2018 and 2019 classes.  UCLA’s top in-state tackle prospect in 2018, four-star Tommy Brown, anchors the Monarchs’ offensive line while at receiver is 2018 four-stars Nikko Remigio and Amon-Ra St. Brown, who both have offers and 2019 prospect Horace McCoy.  Upland, who has 2019 quarterback David Baldwin, who has a few offers and 2017 prospect Gary Theard. 

Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon vs. Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft

Sierra Canyon stands 3-0, thanks to an efficient offense featuring UCLA offensive line verbal Kanan Ray and they meet a perennially strong City Section squad in Taft.

Portland (Ore.) Jesuit vs. Hillsboro (Ore.) Liberty

Jesuit is led by UCLA commit Jaxson Kirkland on the offensive line and Oregon verbal Demetrius Douglas in the secondary as well as 2018 Scout 300 ATH Trey Lowe, who went off last week for over 350 yards.

Chaffey (Calif.) College vs. Golden West (Calif.) College

UCLA offensive line commit Ronald Rudd and Chaffey look to pick up their first win of the season. 

Redlands (Calif.) East Valley vs. Romoland (Calif.) Heritage

UCLA’s crown jewel of their class, five-star defensive end Jaelan Phillips has had a monster beginning to the season and REV tries to bounce back from their loss a week ago when they take on Heritage. 

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly vs. Mission Viejo (Calif.)

Poly has UCLA recruits Cam McDonald (2018) at tight end and safety Josh Talbott (2017) while the Diablos have UCLA prospect Olaijah Griffin at corner from the 2018 class.

Calabasas (Calif.) vs. Oxnard (Calif.) Pacifica

Calabasas is loaded, featuring UCLA target Darnay Holmes , the No. 1 cornerback in the 2017 class nationally, plus 2018 four-star corner Bookie Radley-Hiles as well as a pair of Nebraska commits in quarterback Tristan Gebbia and receiver Keyshawn Johnson. 

Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian vs. Huntington Park (Calif.)

UCLA’s first commit to the 2017 class was Salesian linebacker Rahyme Johnson, and while he decommitted, the Bruins are back recruiting him and he and teammate Deommodore Lenoir, a commit to Oregon. 

Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) vs. Murrieta Valley (Calif.)

Rancho Cucamonga has UCLA cornerback recruits Thomas Graham and Jaylon Redd and they'll be matching up against two Power 5 receivers in Colorado commit Maurice Bell and 2018 four-star Marquis Spiker, in what will be one of the weekend's best 1-on-1 matchups.

Temecula (Calif.) Chaparral vs. Redlands (Calif.)

Chaparral has 2018 offensive line target Justin Dedich and teammate Steven Jones, who the Bruins are watching, plus Cal commit and former UCLA recruit Michael Onyemaobi.  

Buena Park (Calif.) vs. Whittier (Calif.) Pioneer

Buena Park is loaded this fall, with a pair of Cal commits on their roster, but no recruit is better on their team than four-star cornerback Elijah Gates, a big UCLA target this year.  And 2018 is good for Buena Park too, with four-star receiver Devon Cooley, who was offered by UCLA at their Elite Camp, their headliners. 

Corona (Calif.) Roosevelt vs. Alta Loma (Calif.)

Roosevelt has 2018 receiver target Chase Williams, a four-star who was offered at the Bruin Elite Camp, to lead their offense plus 2017 linebacker Richard Cage, who is on the Bruins linebacker board. 

La Mirada (Calif.) vs. San Clemente (Calif.)

The Matadores, who won the state title last year, have a strong squad coming back, with UCLA cornerback recruit Elijah Hicks, tight end prospect Sire Woods and Colorado commit Chase Newman.  San Clemente has Duke commit Jack Sears at quarterback.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins vs. Chula Vista (Calif.) Mater Dei

The Hawks boast the nation's best receiver corps, with 2017's No. 1 receiver, Joseph Lewis and the tops in 2018, Jalen Hall, plus Scout 100 receiver Eric Fuller.  Mater Dei from San Diego has Oregon commit C.J. Verdell in their backfield.

Provo (Utah) Timpview vs. Provo (Utah)

With UCLA coaches expected on the sidelines, Timpview and Bruin target Chaz Ah You meet crosstown foe Provo, who has Washington receiver commit Ty Jones.

South Jordan (Utah) Bingham vs. West Jordan (Utah) Copper Hills

Angus McClure is expected to be at Bingham's game to see the No. 2 defensive tackle in the country, Jay Tufele, play for Bingham.

West Jordan (Utah) vs. Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood

And UCLA coaches are also expected to see West Jordan play on Friday to check out defensive end Alden Tofa, who could be closing in on an offer from the Bruins.

Defensive tackle Popo Aumavae and Stockton (Calif.) St. Mary’s play Elk Grove (Calif.) Cosumnes Oaks. Los Angeles (Calif.) and defensive tackle Martin Andrus face Compton (Calif.). Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton and UCLA target Sione Lund take on Taylorsville.  Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde and receiver Bryan Thompson take on Perris (Calif.) Citrus Hill. Claremont (Calif.) and 2018 four-star linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu play Pomona. 2018 four-star safety Isaac Taylor and San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine face Otay Ranch. Oceanside (Calif.) El Camino and 2018 four-star running back Chris Brown meet Torrey Pines (Calif). Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey and 2019 defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux play Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham.


Roseville (Calif.) and UCLA commit Jimmy Jaggers are off this weekend. El Cerrito (Calif.) and UCLA target Aaron Banks are off. Sacramento (Calif.) Inderkum and UCLA targets Josh Falo and Trajon Cotton are off. Las Vegas (Nev.) Arbor View and UCLA target Greg Rogers are off.

Thursday Results:

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade and UCLA target T.J. Pledger beat Bakersfield, 28-20.
