Trajon Cotton is one of the most versatile defensive backs out West with the ability to play corner or safety in college.
Cotton has an athletic frame, long arms and is a playmaker. He runs well, always competes hard and is a natural leader in the secondary. We think he projects best as a free safety in college but some schools like him as a corner as well and his ability to play multiple spots is a big reason why he's so highly coveted.
Last weekend, Cotton took an first official visit of the year when he travels to Lincoln to see the Nebraska Cornhuskers. And we talked to him going into that visit.
"This will be my first time ever visiting Nebraska so I'm very excited," Cotton said. "I can't wait to see that game atmosphere and see how crazy the fans are. I see how they are on twitter so I'm excited to see them in real life.
"I have a good relationship with Coach (Brian) Stewart (DB Coach), we talk a few times every week. They like me as a free safety and are one of the schools recruiting me the hardest right now so I'm looking forward to the trip and it should be a great game with Oregon coming to town."
Cotton has a visit set with the Ducks for (Oct. 8) and recently set up his third official visit.
"I'm going to Illinois on (Nov. 5) for the Michigan State game," Cotton said. "Lovie Smith has me pretty intrigued with the program and they have been recruiting me really hard so I'm definitely interested. I know they have a nice tradition there and I'm interested to get out there and see what they're building and how I'll fit in.
"My last two visits will be to Arizona State and Colorado. I haven't set dates yet but they'll be during the season. ASU is a good program and I like how they play. I've been to Colorado already and loved it out there.
"Plus they're one of the schools recruiting me hardest right now. I would say CU, Oregon State and Nebraska are the schools I talk with the most. I haven't heard from UCLA in a couple of months so I'm assuming they're going in a different direction. I like the schools on my list right now and excited to take my trips, go through the process and find out where I fit in the best."
