Sept. 17 -- Josh Rosen found Cameron Griffin for a touchdown and the UCLA defense pitched a shutout in the first half to give the Bruins at 10-0 lead...
PROVO, Utah -- The UCLA totaled six tackles for a loss, including four sacks, to shut out BYU in the first half of Saturday night's game at Lavell Edwards Stadium.
Josh Rosen had a touchdown pass to Cameron Griffin, who returned to action after missing the first two games of the season with a concussion.
Eli Ankou blocked a 55-yard field goal to cap the first half, as the Bruins held the Cougars to an average of just two yards per play. UCLA forced six punts.
The Bruins struggled offensively, though, as starter Sotonye Jamabo did not suit up. Three running backs, including Nate Starks who saw his first action of the season, combined for 26 yards on 15 carries. Fullback Ainuu Taua also didn't dress.
The defense benefited from the return of Takkarist McKinley (groin), Eddie Vanderdoes (knee) and Jaleel Wadood.
