"It was a smooth trip and it was fun," said Cotton. "It would have been better if they won, but I actually got to see the true person and true colors of the staff when they lost. The staff is still the same people, they don't get too high or too low. I really like the staff there."
Cotton was able to spend a lot of time with the Oregon coaches following the game as well as on Sunday.
"Coach (John) Neal is the main one recruiting me and spent most of my time with him," said Cotton. "I also talked to Coach (Brady) Hoke a lot and I really like his personality. He's very straight forward with you and he said he needs me and he thinks i can play a big part on their defense and will be a good fit for their system. I also talked with Coach (Mark) Helfrich too and he's really cool."
Cotton was hosted by Terry Wilson on his visit, his second time in Eugene, having visited during the spring.
"Terry was my host and I spent time with Travis (Jonsen) too," said Cotton.
It was the second straight week that Cotton had seen Oregon play, having visited Nebraska officially the previous weekend when the Huskers hosted the Ducks.
And with the Ducks playing Colorado on this trip, it was another opportunity for Cotton to watch both secondaries, since both schools are recruiting him.
"I think I might go to Colorado for an official this season," said Cotton. "I was looking at both defenses and looking at both secondaries, seeing what they need."
His next official visit is set for November 5th when he takes an official out to Illinois.
"Coach Hardy (Nickerson) is recruiting me hard for Illinois so I have that visit set, but I think I'm going to try and visit Colorado too."
The Buffs have shown an upward trajectory this fall, something not lost on Cotton.
"Coach (Jim) Leavitt, Coach (Klayton) Adams, Coach (Charles) Clark, everybody at Colorado, is recruiting me," said Cotton. "Coach Mac (Mike MacIntyre) calls me. Watching them this season shows me that what they were preaching before the season wasn't all talk, they're backing it up. They play with a lot more passion."
Nebraska left a big impression on Cotton on his visit.
"Their fans are really passionate and they were really into the game because they won," said Cotton. "The atmosphere was big there."
"Coach (T.J.) Rushing hits me every day at ASU and Coach (Morgan) Scalley at Utah wants me to visit after the season," said Cotton. "I haven't talked with UCLA for a minute but me and Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin) used to talk all the time so I don't know when I'll visit but I'd like to."
Cotton said he's got an ideal timeframe for a decision.
"I think I'm going to decide after the season, probably in December," said Cotton.
