An All-Star cast of prospects representing the Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy reserved their front row seats to Michigan's square off with the Wisconsin Badgers over the weekend, including Taron Vincent, the nation's top-ranked defensive tackle for the class of 2018.
From reconnecting with a familiar face to soaking up the atmosphere inside the world's largest football stadium, the nation's 20th-ranked player overall says his weekend stay with Jim Harbaugh's program was certainly a success.
"When I first got on campus, I spoke with my old head coach, (associate head) coach (Biff) Poggi," Vincent said. "I talked with him for a long time, he took us around campus, showed us the gear.
"I talked to coach Harbaugh, then went down to the game; it was a great game. And then I talked with the coaches afterwards. It was a real good visit."
For Vincent, who will base his decision off a school's academics, coaches and environment for student athletes, the message from the Wolverines' coaching staff was sweet and straight to the point.
"Coach Harbaugh, we just sat down and talked about how he's doing and how I'm doing," Vincent said. "I talked with coach Poggi, and he said he needs me there and wants to coach me again."
It's one thing to kick your legs back and catch a game from your living room, but stepping foot inside a college football stadium that's brimming with over 100,000 fans is an experience you can only find at roughly 10 colleges across the map, including Michigan.
"I loved it and it was crazy," Vincent said. "There were a lot of fans. The atmosphere was good. It was loud and everyone was cheering."
With that being said, does this 6-foot-1, 290-pound defender have a clear-cut leader in his recruitment?
Vincent is heavily considering taking a visit down to Miami (Fl) for this weekend's game vs. Florida State, but nothing is set in stone.
As always, stay tuned to Scout.
