East Coast D-Lineman Plans UCLA Visit

Oct. 10, WAKE FOREST, N.C. -- One of the best defensive linemen in the east, Xach Gill, is making progress with his recruitment and he spoke with Scout about where he is in the process, including arranging trips...

"Right now, I'm just weighing my options," Xach Gill, the three-star defensive line prospect from Wake Forest , North Carolina, said. "The main schools I'm in contact with are North CarolinaUCLAVirginia TechMississippi and NC State. I'll probably officially narrow my list in a few weeks."

What appeals to him about each school?

North Carolina: "I really like the coaching staff and how they coach their players to be great on and off the field," said the 6-foot-4 ½, 284-pound Gill.

UCLA: "I have developed a great relationship with (defensive line) coach (Angus) McClure and he's told me it's a great program. I also like the way he coaches up his defensive linemen."

Virginia Tech: "I like everything about them from coach (Justin) Fuente to (defensive coordinator) coach (Bud) Foster to (defensive line) coach (Charley) Wiles."

Ole Miss: "I like the coaching staff and the job they do when it comes to coaching their players."

NC State: " I like how they coach up their players and their enthusiasm. They really encourage them to get after it."

According to Gill, North Carolina and Virginia Tech will make the cut when he trims his list of schools in the near future.

"The environment at the schools and my relationships with the coaching staffs is the reason they will make it," he said. "I can also just see myself fitting in at those schools. I'd give them the edge right now."

Gill will take some important visits in the near future.

"Most likely, the next trip will be to UNC on Nov. 5 for my official visit," he said. "Virginia Tech and UCLA will definitely get officials, too, but I don't have any dates for those yet."

Gill, who will enroll early, has a timeline for his commitment.

"It will probably be at the end of the season," he said. "It's going to be pretty hard, but I've just got find the school that's the best fit for me."
