UCLA Prospect Recap: Week Six

Oct. 11 -- We look at how UCLA prospects did in week five of the high school football season...

***Game of the Week:***  Corona (Calif.) Centennial def. Corona (Calif.) Roosevelt, 77-20

The game of the week turned out to be a romp for the Huskies.  UCLA commit Jaylan Shaw had a takeaway in the win and 2018 four-star quarterback Tanner McKee threw for 180 yards and ran for 80 more.  UCLA 2018 four-star receiver target Chase Williams had three catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns, including an 80-yarder for a score.

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei def. Santa Margarita (Calif.), 42-14

The Monarchs defense, led by UCLA commit Quentin Lake, held Santa Margarita to just 270 yards in offense and 12-of-22 passing to continue to roll to an unbeaten season. 

Portland (Ore.) Jesuit def. Beaverton (Ore.) Aloha, 61-0

Jesuit, paced by UCLA commit Jaxson Kirkland on the offensive line, had another big game from running back Trey Lowe, a 2018 four-star, who ran for five first-half touchdowns and the Crusaders stayed unbeaten with the rout.

Redlands (Calif.) East Valley def. Redlands (Calif.), 28-14

Five-star defensive end Jaelan Phillips had yet another big game, with nine tackles, six hurries and four quarterback sacks and he added a 41-yard punt return for a touchdown in the win. 

Antelope (Calif.) def. Roseville (Calif.), 42-7

UCLA tight end commit Jimmy Jaggers had a handful of tackles playing defensive end but Roseville saw their unbeaten start come to an end in a loss to Antelope. 

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman def. Las Vegas (Nev.) Spring Valley, 69-13

2018 four-star quarterback and UCLA target Dorian Thompson-Robinson saw more time at quarterback, going 5-for-6 for 60 yards and a touchdown while having two receptions for 13 yards, one a short touchdown.  Four-star 2018 tight end Brevin Jordan had 80 yards receiving as well. The West’s top safety, Bubba Bolden, also had an interception in the win.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey def. Los Angeles (Calif.), 21-20

Dorsey’s 2019 four-star defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux was the star in the Coliseum League win.  Thibodeaux had six sacks, recovered a fumble and caught a 2-point conversion. 

Calabasas (Calif.) def. Westlake (Calif.), 46-16

Calabasas was without UCLA target Darnay Holmes, the No. 1 cornerback in the 2017 class nationally, plus 2018 four-star corner Bookie Radley-Hiles, both out with injuries, but had no problem earning their first-ever win over Westlake.

Byes:

West Orange (Fla.) and UCLA quarterback commit Austin Burton had their game cancelled because of Hurricane Matthew. Chaffey (Calif.) College and UCLA offensive line commit Ronald Rudd were off. Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon and UCLA commit Kanan Ray had the weekend off.
