Bubba Bolden (Blair Angulo)

Latest on Four-Star UCLA DB Target Bubba Bolden

Oct. 13 -- You can make an argument that no player has been more clutch in big situations this season than Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman safety Bubba Bolden and he continues to rise up our board...

Scout updated our rankings earlier today and Bubba Bolden made a nice jump. Bolden is now rated the No. 2 safety in the country after jumping from the No. 65 overall prospect to No. 38 and he’s probably not done yet. Bolden has simply been amazing all year and has arguably been the best player on the nation's best team.

His blocked field goal against Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas to send the game in to double OT that the Gaels eventually won will go down as one of the most historic plays in school history. The thing is, he does something similar every game with a clutch late interception or big hit to set the tone early.

He had a key interception in the Gaels season opener against nationally ranked Cedar Hill (Texas) that helped turned the tide in the second half. In the St. John Bosco game, a Braves running back was headed to the end zone for a sure touchdown when Bolden caught him from behind and tripped him up at the 5-yard. They held Bosco to a field goal and his late interception in the game sealed the win.

His ability to play the run, cover down the field and always be around the ball is unmatched. He plays with a serious edge to him and doesn't mind talking a little to an opponent or giving that little extra hit or shove to make sure you know he's there.

On the recruiting front, Bolden has set up his first official visit and has a good idea about a couple of others.

"I'm going to visit Ohio State (Nov. 5)," Bolden said. "I'll also visit UCLA and USC after the season but don't have any other dates locked in. I'm still looking at Arizona StateColorado and Florida as well and I'll figure out my other trip dates later in the year."
