UCLA Prospect Recap: Week Seven

Oct. 18 -- We look at how UCLA prospects did in week seven of the high school football season...

***Game of the Week:***  Portland (Ore.) Jesuit def. Beaverton (Ore.), 49-34

The Crusader offense, led by UCLA commit Jaxson Kirkland on the offensive line, had over 500 yards in total offense, including 156 yards and two touchdowns from 2018 four-star Trey Lowe plus four touchdown receptions from Oregon defensive back commit Demetrius Douglas, to stay perfect in 2016.

Murrieta (Calif.) Valley def. Temecula (Calif.) Chaparral, 42-0

2019 four-star Hank Bachmeier, who UCLA is watching closely, was 18-for-21 for 331 yards and three touchdowns and 2018 four-star receiver Marquis Spiker, who UCLA offered last month, had four catches for 37 yards while Colorado commit Maurice Bell caught all three touchdown passes and went over 200 yards.

West Orange (Fla.) def. Orlando (Fla.) Evans, 48-0

UCLA quarterback commit Austin Burton was 17-of-25 passing for 279 yards with five touchdown passes to help West Orange snap a six-game losing streak in a blowout win. 

Corona (Calif.) Centennial def. Corona (Calif.) Santiago, 45-7

Centennial, led by UCLA commit Jaylan Shaw in the secondary, shut down the Santiago offense, limiting them to a touchdown. 2018 four-star quarterback Tanner McKee was 13-of-18 for 184 yards and a touchdown.

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei vs. Orange (Calif.) Lutheran, 56-14

UCLA commit Quentin Lake had four tackles and two pass breakups while 2019 four-star quarterback J.T. Daniels, who UCLA has offered, continued his torrid start, throwing for 406 yards and five touchdowns on 30-of-36 passing. 2019 four-star receiver Horace McCoy, who UCLA has offered, caught a touchdown pass as did 2018 four-star Amon-Ra St. Brown, who also had a touchdown grab. 

Redlands (Calif.) East Valley def. Fontana (Calif.) A.B. Miller, 49-0

Even with UCLA five-star commit Jaelan Phillips out with pneumonia, the Wildcats had no issues with A.B. Miller, pitching a shutout. 

Riverside (Calif.) College def. Chaffey (Calif.) College, 59-0

UCLA commit Ronald Rudd and Chaffey had a long night, going just over 100 yards in total offense, including just 38 yards, on 7-of-21 passing, in a blowout loss to Riverside. 

Roseville (Calif.) vs. Fair Oaks (Calif.) Bella Vista, 56-7

UCLA tight end commit Jimmy Jaggers and Roseville bounced back from their first loss with a dominant win over Bella Vista. Jaggers blocked a punt with his left hand and sprung three touchdowns with blocks to seal off the edge.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman def. Las Vegas (Nev.) Clark, 58-0

UCLA 2018 quarterback target Dorian Thompson-Robinson rushed for three touchdowns and caught a 36-yard pass while 2018 four-star tight end Brevin Jordan had four catches for 32 yards in their shutout win.

Byes:

Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon and UCLA commit Kanan Ray had one more week off before returning to action on 10/21. Calabasas (Calif.) and UCLA five-star target Darnay Holmes were off.
