UCLA Is Offer No. 1 For Talented '18 DB Stephan Blaylock

Oct. 19 -- Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco junior safety Stephan Blaylock is among the top defensive backs in the 2018 class and he just picked up his first of what we think will be several scholarship offers over the weekend...

The 2018 class out West is shaping up to be a strong one at the safety position. One player we feel will be a national recruit and among the best defensive backs we've seen this year has been Stephan Blaylock

Blaylock is both athletic and rangy as well as physical and tough in run support. He can cover a lot of ground in the secondary but is very good coming down hill and making a big hit on a running back or receiver.

He's a player that jumped out to us over the spring on the 7v7 circuit and he's even better with the pads on. Blaylock is very good in space, breaking down and making a sure tackle. There's no stiffness in the way he plays, he's extremely fluid in his ability to run to the football and make a play.

On the recruiting front, Blaylock just received his first offer from UCLA over the weekend and we expect that list to grow rapidly in the coming year.

"My coaches told me Friday about the offer and then I talked with Coach Meat (Martin) on Sunday to make it official," Blaylock said. "I was excited and speechless at the same time because UCLA is a school I've always liked.

"I had a good talk with Coach Meat and I like him a lot. He's a real cool coach and was straight up with me and told me to explore all my options because more offers are going to come in. I went to the Stanford game earlier in the year UCLA has always been one of my favorite teams so it's a big first offer for me for sure."

In addition to the Bruins, Blaylock said he's hearing from several other programs as well.

"I'm also hearing from Utah, Notre Dame, Colorado State, WashingtonWashington State and Oregon State," Blaylock said. "My coaches said a lot of times, once that first offer comes in, a few more will follow right after so hopefully it happens for me."
