UCLA Prospects In Games This Weekend - Week 8

***Game of the Week:***  Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei vs. Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco

The Monarchs have a ton of talent and a slew of prospects UCLA is recruiting, including Bruin commit Quentin Lake in the secondary.  Plus there are a number of other players the Bruins have offered in the 2018 and 2019 classes.  UCLA’s top in-state tackle prospect in 2018, four-star Tommy Brown, anchors the Monarchs’ offensive line while at receiver is 2018 four-stars Nikko Remigio and Amon-Ra St. Brown, who both have offers and 2019 prospect Horace McCoy.  Bosco has two of the top safeties in the country, including 2018’s No. 1 safety, Jaiden Woodbey as well as 2018 safety Stephan Blaylock, who the Bruins offered this week.  Bosco also has Ohio State lineman commit Wyatt Davis and Washington receiver commit Terrell Bynum plus 2018 quarterback prospect Re-al Mitchell.

Calabasas vs. Newbury Park:

Calabasas is loaded, featuring UCLA target Darnay Holmes , the No. 1 cornerback in the 2017 class nationally, plus 2018 four-star corner Bookie Radley-Hiles as well as a pair of Nebraska commits in quarterback Tristan Gebbia and receiver Keyshawn Johnson. Holmes suffered a shoulder injury two weeks ago, though, and may be out, having missed last week’s game.  Newbury Park has 2018 four-star quarterback Cameron Rising, who UCLA is still recruiting despite him committing to Oklahoma.  They also have 2017 athlete Chris Brooks and defensive back Marques Evans, a commit to Boise State who covets a UCLA offer. 

Corona (Calif.) Centennial vs. Corona (Calif.) 

Centennial will be led by UCLA commit Jaylan Shaw in the secondary. Meanwhile, Tanner McKee, Centennial’s four-star 2018 quarterback, has started the year strong.  And the Huskies also have 2018 four-star receiver Manuel Allen, who UCLA is watching early on.  

Chaffey (Calif.) College vs. Long Beach (Calif.) City

UCLA commit Ronald Rudd and Chaffey face a stiff test when they take on Long Beach City. 

Portland (Ore.) Jesuit vs. Portland (Ore.) Sunset

Jesuit is led by UCLA commit Jaxson Kirkland on the offensive line and Oregon verbal Demetrius Douglas in the secondary as well as 2018 Scout 300 ATH Trey Lowe and Oregon commit Demetrius Douglas.

Redlands (Calif.) East Valley vs. Rialto (Calif.) Eisenhower

After being sidelined a week ago because of pneumonia, UCLA’s five-star defensive end commit Jaelan Phillips returns to action for REV against Eisenhower.

Roseville (Calif.) vs. Rocklin (Calif.) Whitney 

UCLA tight end commit Jimmy Jaggers has been getting it done on defense as well and he tries to help Roseville improve to 7-1. 

Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon vs. Calabasas (Calif.) Viewpoint

UCLA commit Kanan Ray and Sierra Canyon return after a two-week break and look to stay unbeaten against Viewpoint.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman vs. Las Vegas (Nev.) Desert Oasis

Scout’s defending national champions, Bishop Gorman, continues their in-state competition. While Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell will start for the Gaels, 2018 four-star quarterback and UCLA target Dorian Thompson-Robinson will play receiver, split out next to 2018 four-star tight end target Brevin Jordan.  Defensively, two more UCLA targets lead the Gaels, four-star safety Bubba Bolden and 2018 four-star linebacker Palei Gaoteote. 

Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta vs. Temecula (Calif.) Chaparral

Chaparral has 2018 offensive line target Justin Dedich, who UCLA offered at their Big Man camp in June, and teammate Steven Jones, who the Bruins are watching, plus Cal commit and former UCLA recruit Michael Onyemaobi.  Vista Murrieta has 2017 cornerback Javelin Guidry, the son of the former Bruin and Elisha Guidry, the 2018 three-star receiver.

Murrieta (Calif.) Valley vs. Temecula (Calif.) Valley

Murrieta Valley has two Power 5 receivers in Colorado commit Maurice Bell and 2018 four-star Marquis Spiker, who UCLA just offered last month and 2019 four-star quarterback Hank Bachmeier. 

Corona (Calif.) Roosevelt vs. Riverside (Calif.) King

Roosevelt has 2018 receiver target Chase Williams, a four-star who was offered at the Bruin Elite Camp, to lead their offense plus 2017 linebacker Richard Cage, who is on the Bruins linebacker board.  

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly vs. Lakewood (Calif.)

Poly has UCLA recruits Cam McDonald (2018) at tight end and safety Josh Talbott (2017).

Mission Viejo (Calif.) vs. Mission Viejo (Calif.) Trabuco Hills 

The Diablos have UCLA prospect Olaijah Griffin at corner from the 2018 class and 2018 four-star receiver Austin Osborne leading them on both sides. 

Oceanside (Calif.) El Camino vs. San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills

El Camino features 2018 four-star running back Chris Brown, who UCLA offered in June and Mission Hills has 2018 four-star quarterback Jack Tuttle, who camped with the Bruins in June and is on their watch list.

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle vs. San Ramon (Calif.) California

De La Salle has defensive tackle Tuli Letuligasenoa, a 2018 four-star who has a few early Pac-12 offers, including one from UCLA. 

Antioch (Calif.) vs. Antioch (Calif.) Deer Valley

Antioch features UCLA running back recruit Najee Harris, the No. 1 player in the country, who UCLA is still trying with. 

Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian vs. Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral

UCLA’s first commit to the 2017 class was Salesian linebacker Rahyme Johnson, and while he decommitted, the Bruins are back recruiting him and he and teammate Deommodore Lenoir, a commit to Oregon.  Cathedral was relevant to watch at one point before half their team was dropped by UCLA or they decommitted from their ‘dream school’.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins vs. Los Angeles (Calif.)

Hawkins, with UCLA receiver targets Joseph Lewis, Jalen Hall and Eric Fuller play Los Angeles and 2017 four-star defensive tackle Martin Andrus.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey vs. Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw

The City’s best rivalry features the top prospect in the West in 2019 in Kayvon Thibodeaux from Dorsey while Crenshaw features athlete Daiyan Henley.

Other Games to Watch:

Portland (Ore.) Westview and defensive lineman Brandon Pili face Beaverton (Ore.). Concord (Calif.) Clayton Valley and offensive lineman Jalen McKenzie play Lafayette (Calif.) Acalenes.  Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) and UCLA target Thomas Graham face Etiwanda (Calif.).  Claremont (Calif.) and 2018 four-star linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu play Chino Hills (Calif.) Ayala. 2018 four-star safety Isaac Taylor and San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine face San Diego (Calif.) Mira Mesa.  Kahuku (Hawaii) and defensive end Aliki Vimahi play Wai’anae (Hawaii).

Byes:

West Orange (Fla.) and UCLA quarterback commit Austin Burton are off.

Thursday Results:

Lehi (Utah) and UCLA tight end offer Carson Terrell beat Saratoga Springs (Calif.) Westlake 41-21. Provo (Utah) Timpview and Bruin target Chaz Ah You beat Lehi (Utah) Skyridge, 35-14. West Jordan (Utah) and UCLA defensive end recruit Alden Tofa beat West Jordan (Utah) Copper Hills, 59-6.
