Scouting UCLA DE Target Aliki Vimahi on Film

Oct. 24 -- Kahuku (Hawaii) defensive end Aliki Vimahi is having a strong senior season. Here's a close-up look at one of the more versatile linemen out West and a prime 2017 UCLA target...

Evaluation Update:

Aliki Vimahi is an intriguing defensive line prospect with the ability to move around and play inside or outside at the next level. He has a big frame and currently looks like he'll project as a strong side defensive end but we could easily see him growing in to a tackle or three-tech down the road as well.

The first thing that jumps out on film is Vimahi's motor and the energy he plays with. He plays with a relentless energy on the field, does a nice job getting off blocks and pursues to the football very well.

He's a naturally strong kid, powerful in his upper body and can stand up a blocker, discard them and make a play or even hold his ground on a double team and still get a push. He'll need to continue to improve his quickness off the snap and overall athleticism but there's a lot to like and we think Vimahi has a nice upside to him.

Recruiting Update:

Vimahi plans to take all five of his official visits and has locked in three of them. He'll check out the Virginia Cavaliers (Dec. 3), Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (Jan. 14) and Utah Utes (Jan. 28). UCLA will get a visit as well and schools like the BYU CougarsHawaii Warriors and USC Trojans remain involved here as well.
