BYU Commit Cameron Latu Reacts to UCLA Offer

Nov. 1 -- Recruiting interest has ramped up for 2018 defensive end Cameron Latu after he made an early decision to commit to BYU this past summer, including an offer from UCLA...

Four months ago, Cameron Latu jumped on his first scholarship offer from BYU and committed to the Cougars before the start of his junior season.

That commitment remains intact after a couple new offers, including the latest from UCLA, and the 6-foot-5, 230-pound prospect from Salt Lake City (Utah) Olympus sounds excited to be lining up other options.

"I'm still pretty solid with BYU, but UCLA was a big offer to me," Latu told "Coach Angus (McClure) told me they like my athletic ability and my quickness. They also like how I can play both sides of the ball.

"I think UCLA is big for me because it's my first Pac-12 offer and I love the California schools. I was born in Southern Cali and I'm planning to go to the UCLA versus USC game. I was supposed to go to the game at UCLA this past weekend but I got caught up with some stuff. I saw them against BYU and I thought they were very explosive, in my eyes, and I liked how they played on defense."

UCLA is not the only Pac-12 school to express interest in the three-star prospect. The likes of ColoradoStanfordUtah and Washington have been sending recruiting letters, Latu said.

Latu has been credited with 55 total tackles in 10 games this season, included 14 for a loss. He has also caught 13 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns.
