UCLA Leads for Nation's #2 Cornerback for 2018

Nov. 1 -- UCLA has had five-star junior Tyreke Johnson from Florida on campus before and his interest in the Bruins is high. He talks about how the Bruins lead his other favorites...

Evaluation notes:  Tyreke Johnson is a 6-foot-2, 185 pound defensive back out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian.  His size jumps out right away.  Johnson is a long athlete who really looks natural at defensive back.  He started playing some varsity football in eighth grade.  He has played corner and safety and could project as either on the next level.   His frame may lean more towards safety down the road once he fills out, but he can cover and and loves to play on the island.  His ball skills are like those of a top wideouts.  He tracks the ball and picks passes off.   Against the run, he is a solid tackler and he doesn't shy away from contact.  Johnson is mature, he plays with confidence and he will likely play very early in his college career.

Recruiting notes:  UCLA is on top of schools like AlabamaGeorgiaLSU and USC.
