Hot Board: What's the latest with the available top 100 players?

Nov. 7 -- With the first of two early signing periods beginning Wednesday, Scout Hoops breaks down where each available top 100 prospect stands in their recruitments...

http://www.scout.com/player/195659-mohamed-bamba

Mohamed Bamba, the top available prospect, has been fairly quiet when it comes to his recruiting process. That said, he has visited each of the schools that he's strongly considering. His most recent trip was an official visit to Texas the last weekend of October. The only other known official visit was to Michigan the first weekend of Michigan. He visited Kentucky unofficially for the Big Blue Madness festivities and also tripped to Harvard and UConn. It's unknown whether Bamba will make his college choice during the early signing period, but since he has seen the schools on his list, it's certainly a possibility.

Schools Involved: Michigan (Sept. 3), Texas (Oct. 29), Kentucky, Harvard, Connecticut

http://www.scout.com/player/186218-trevon-duval

Trevon Duval told Scout this past weekend that there was no chance of him making a college decision during the early signing period. Duval's recruitment remains a mystery. He said in early September that he was reopening his recruitment, but it's been tough to figure out who is exactly recruiting the nation's top point guard. He's a supreme talent, but trying to pinpoint a favorite or even a list is beyond difficult at this stage.

Schools Involved: Maryland, Seton HallSt. John's (NY)Villanova

http://www.scout.com/player/189969-wendell-carter

Five-star center Wendell Carter took his last scheduled official visit to Georgia Tech this past weekend. Previously he took official visits to Duke and Harvard, which are the two schools he's thought to really be considering. Although Carter, a 6-foot-9 talented post scorer, hasn't said it, the belief is that Duke is the frontrunner heading into signing week. In terms of when he's going to make a decision, Carter, according to his mother, Kylia, is planning to announce later this month. He intends to sign during the period and will most likely send in the letter in late November. They haven't settled on a date.

Schools Involved: Duke (Oct. 22), Georgia Tech (Nov. 5) Harvard (Sept. 17), Georgia

http://www.scout.com/player/200255-kevin-knox

Top 10 recruit Kevin Knox has been up front about his recruiting process. Back in August, Knox told Scout that he didn't plan to sign or commit during the early period and he's stuck with that plan. He's taken an official visit to Duke and has scheduled visits with his other finalists -- Florida State, Kentucky and North Carolina.

Schools Involved: Duke Duke (Oct. 29), Florida State (Jan. 7), Kentucky (Jan. 28) and North Carolina (Feb. 4)

http://www.scout.com/player/189915-brandon-mccoy

Based on Brandon McCoy's visit schedule it doesn't appear likely that he will make his college choice during the initial period. McCoy has already taken official visits to Arizona and UNLV. But Michigan State and Oregon are certainly in the mix with the five-star prospect as well.

Schools Involved: Arizona (Oct. 8), Michigan State (Nov. 19), Oregon (Nov. 12), and UNLV (Oct. 29)

http://www.scout.com/player/200840-collin-sexton

Five-star guard Collin Sexton is expected to announce his college choice on November 10th, which is the second day of the initial signing period. Sexton has taken official visits to Alabama, Kansas, NC State and Oklahoma State. Although Sexton hasn't listed favorites, if we were guessing we'd say the decision comes to down to Alabama and Kansas.

Schools Involved: Alabama (Sept. 9), Kansas (Sept. 30), NC State (Sept. 2), Oklahoma State (Sept. 17)

http://www.scout.com/player/195220-hamidou-diallo

Hamidou Diallo, the nation's top shooting guard, told Scout that he won't be make his college decision during the early signing period. In fact, Diallo will likely wait until late spring to make his choice. Diallo recently narrowed his list of schools to Arizona, Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky and Syracuse. Diallo has yet to take an official visit, but has been to Connecticut and Syracuse unofficially. Diallo graduated from high school last spring and is in the midst of a post-graduate season. Diallo told Scout in September that he would consider the NBA option after this season.

Five-star forward P.J. Washington is another name that is expected to make his college choice during the early signing period, but he has to give the official word. His father -- Paul Washington Sr. -- did tell Scout that the plan was to likely make an announcement. Washington took his final scheduled official visit to UNLV this past weekend. He's also previously been to Kentucky and North Carolina.

Schools Involved: Kentucky (Sept. 17), North Carolina (Sept. 24) and UNLV (Nov. 5)

Back in mid-October, Jarred Vanderbilt told Scout at the USA Basketball mini-camp that he would like to come up with a decision during the early signing period. But that doesn't appear to be the case. Although it's not out of the question, Vanderbilt doesn't appear to be ready. Vanderbilt took an official visit to North Carolina the weekend of October 15th and tripped to Kentucky the next weekend. Vanderbilt doesn't have any other visits scheduled.

Schools Involved: ArizonaKentucky (Oct. 22), North Carolina and Texas

http://www.scout.com/player/192026-trae-young

His father -- Ray Young -- told Scout that while they don't know for sure, they haven't ruled out making a choice during the period. Young has taken all of his allotted official visits.

Schools Involved: Kansas (Oct. 22), Kentucky (Oct. 15) and Oklahoma (Sept. 17), Oklahoma State (Oct. 29) and Texas Tech (Sept. 29)

http://www.scout.com/player/199835-lonnie-walker

Lonnie Walker, who ranks No. 23 overall in the 2017 class, told Scout in mid-October at the USA Basketball mini-camp that he planned to finish up his visits and make his choice in November. There hasn't been word out of Walker's camp about deciding since. That said, I'd be surprised if he didn't opt to make a commitment. He's already taken official visits to Arizona, Kentucky, Miami and Villanova. He's also been to Syracuse unofficially.

Schools Involved: Arizona (Oct. 15), Villanova (Oct. 29), Kentucky (Nov. 5), Miami (Fl) Miami (Oct. 1) and Syracuse

Not much is known about M.J. Walker's recruitment, as things have been pretty quiet since the summer. Walker, did however, take an official visit to Florida State the last weekend of October. Although it's possible, it doesn't look like he'll announce during the early signing period.

2017 lead guard Matt Coleman told Scout isn't planning to make a college choice in the near future. "I think I'm signing late," he told Scout. Coleman has taken official visits to Duke, Texas and Stanford. Most believe it's a two horse race between the Blue Devils and Longhorns. From the outside looking in, it appears to be battle.

Schools Involved: Duke (Sept. 17), Texas (Oct. 29), and Stanford (Sept. 30)

http://www.scout.com/player/190509-john-petty

Four-star wing John Petty is down to two schools -- Alabama and Kentucky. Petty will announce his college choice on November 10th at high school in Alabama. Four-star combo forward Rayshaun Hammonds has taken a handful of official visits. He's already been to Memphis, Miami and Alabama, as well as Georgia. Australian big man Jacob Epperson emerged during the summer, moved his way into Scout's top 100 and has no shortage of college options. Epperson hasn't taken any official visits, but has been by Illinois, Marquette and Purdue unofficially. Epperson is waiting to take his official visits when his parents move to the United States in January, so don't expect a decision from him during the early period.
