Fairfield (OH) junior Malik Vann is the number-four rated 2018 defensive end prospect in the Midwest, and he has already put together an offer list that numbers over 20 schools.
Although UCLA has not yet offered the three-star out of Ohio, Vann has definite interest in the Bruin program. He will visit UCLA this weekend when the Bruins take on Oregon State.
"I'm excited to be able to go check out UCLA," Vann stated. "I want to go visit there because UCLA is showing me a lot of interest, and it gives me an opportunity to go out West."
"The distance from home won't bother me or my family at all when it comes to picking a college," he added. "I'm being recruited by (defensive line coach) Angus McClure."
"I really want to get the feel of being out West and being at UCLA," he continued. "I want to see how comfortable I am out there to see if I would want to make a return trip next year."
EVALUATION: Vann is a strong-side defensive end prospect that could also slide inside and play defensive tackle at the next level. He is very quick off the football and can pressure the quarterback. He can tend to drift through games and needs to play with more intensity. His head coach raves about his work ethic and leadership abilities.
RECRUITMENT: The offer list is ultra impressive, and includes Michigan State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, West Virginia, and many others. The Fighting Irish are Vann's stated leader and will be tough to beat for him.
