UCLA Prospect Recap: Week 11

Nov. 15 -- We look at how UCLA prospects did in the playoffs of the high school football season...

***Game of the Week:*** Portland (Ore.) Jesuit def. Portland (Ore.) Madison, 56-27

Thanks to an outstanding blocking effort by the Crusaders offensive line, which features UCLA offensive line commit Jaxson Kirkland, Jesuit rolled Madison in the second round of the playoffs. Jesuit backup running back Ennis Ferguson ran for 314 yards and six touchdowns in relief of 2018 four-star Trey Lowe to move the Crusaders on to the next round. 

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei def. Las Flores (Calif.) Tesoro, 69-0

The Monarchs, the top seed in the CIF-SS D-I playoffs, got dominant performances on both sides of the ball, pitching a shutout. UCLA verbal Quentin Lake had two tackles and an interception he returned for 21 yards and offensively, got 305 yards passing from J.T. Daniels on 14-of-17 passing with five touchdown tosses from the 2019 four-star. UCLA 2018 four-star receiver targets Nikko Remigio and Amon-Ra St. Brown both had touchdown catches.

Corona (Calif.) Centennial def. San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) JSerra, 55-24

Centennial and UCLA commit Jaylan Shaw slowed Serra down offensively and got a big night from 2018 four-star quarterback Tanner McKee, who was 18-for-22 for 300 yards and four touchdowns and 2018 four-star receiver Manuel Allen catching eight passes for 114 yards and a score.

Redlands (Calif.) East Valley def. Temecula (Calif.) Greak Oak, 41-30

UCLA’s five-star defensive end commit Jaelan Phillips had eight tackles, two hurries, forced a fumble and had a sack to help REV win their opening round game in the CIF-SS playoffs.

Vacaville (Calif.) def. Roseville (Calif.), 52-20

UCLA tight end commit Jimmy Jaggers had his season come to a close in Roseville’s first round loss to Vacaville. 

Chaffey (Calif.) College def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Harbor, 41-21

UCLA commit Ronald Rudd and Chaffey rolled Harbor in their season finale. Chaffey churned out 192 yards on the ground and three rushing touchdowns and put out over 450 yards in offense. 

Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon def. Lakewood (Calif.), 24-0

UCLA commit Kanan Ray and Sierra Canyon opened the CIF-SS D-IV playoffs with a shutout of Lakewood.  Sierra Canyon had 340 yards in offense, 198 of them coming on the ground and two touchdowns and Ray had a tackle for loss.

Calabasas (Calif.) def. North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake, 56-28

Calabasas got a 92-yard punt return for a touchdown from key Bruin target Darnay Holmes, who also caught five passes for 69 yards and a touchdown to help the Coyotes cruise in their playoff opener.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman def. Las Vegas (Nev.) Palo Verde, 59-0

2018 linebacker Palaie Gaotaote had five tackles and 2017 four-star safety Bubba Bolden had a tackle and a 42-yard interception return in a shutout playoff win.

Completed Seasons:

West Orange (Fla.) and UCLA quarterback commit Austin Burton.
