UCLA Prospect Recap: Week 12

Nov. 22 -- We look at how UCLA prospects did in the playoffs of the high school football season...

***Game of the Week:*** Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon def. Redondo (Calif.), 41-34

UCLA commit Kanan Ray and Sierra Canyon moved on to the semifinals with a triple-overtime win over Redondo.  Ray helped the Sierra Canyon running game rush for 293 yards and five touchdowns in the win.

Corona (Calif.) Centennial def. West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade, 70-30

Centennial and UCLA commit Jaylan Shaw shut down the Chaminade passing game and got a big passing night of their own from 2018 four-star quarterback Tanner McKee, who was 23-for-28 for 373 yards and five touchdown passes while rushing for a touchdown. 2018 four-star running back T.J. Pledger rushed for 139 yards on 20 carries and scored four touchdowns in the loss.

Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic def. Portland (Ore.) Jesuit, 21-9

Central Catholic stunned Jesuit in the state quarterfinals, exacting revenge from an early season loss and ended the season of UCLA commit Jaxson Kirkland. Jesuit, behind Kirkland, still ran for over 200 yards, but couldn’t get into the end zone enough to get the sweep.

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei vs. Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta, 63-30

UCLA commit Quentin Lake had four tackles and a pass breakup and the Monarchs rolled to the semifinals with a 33-point win.  2019 four-star quarterback J.T. Daniels threw for 407 yards on 25-for-43 passing with five touchdowns and 2018 four-star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had seven receptions for 184 yards and two touchdown catches.

UCLA’s five-star defensive end commit Jaelan Phillips was held without a sack and REV had their season come to an end in the loss to La Habra.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Arbor View def. Las Vegas (Nev.) Legacy, 26-14

New UCLA commit Greg Rogers had five tackles, two for loss and a sack, to help Arbor View move on to the state semifinals with a 12-point win over Legacy.

Calabasas (Calif.) def. Santa Maria (Calif.) St. Joseph, 42-19

St. Joseph’s kept five-star Darnay Holmes out of the end zone, but 2018 four-star Bookie Radley-Hiles and 2020 receiver Johnny Wilson, who UCLA offered earlier this month, both scored touchdowns and Calabasas moved on to the semifinals.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman def. Las Vegas (Nev.) Faith Lutheran, 58-10

2018 four-star quarterback and UCLA target Dorian Thompson-Robinson was 3-for-3 for 57 yards and ran for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass, 2018 four-star tight end Brevin Jordan had three catches, including one for a score and 2018 five-star Palaie Gaoteote had four tackles and one for a loss to put the Gaels in the state semifinals.
