2018 LS/LB Townsend Open To Any Opportunity

Jan. 24 -- Encino (Calif.) Crespi 2018 linebacker/longsnapper James Townsend is good with playing special teams in college but open to linebacker too...

Encino (Calif.) Crespi 2018 linebacker/long snapper James Townsend (6-2, 210), took part in the U.S. Army National Combine earlier this month.

"It was great, being there with all the kids from around the country," said Townsend.  "Being form Los Angeles and going with my quarterback, Hamish McClure, that was cool."

Townsend worked out at linebacker at the event, but its actually as a long snapper that more attention is coming from.

"I want to go to a school to be a long snapper, but I would definitely play linebacker," said Townsend.  "I've been going to Rubio Long Snapping for a long time and did the Vegas camp.  I just did linebacker at the Army Combine.  But I am being recruited more for long snapping."

Townsend attended games at UCLA and USC and the Bruins and Trojans are two showing interest.

"The main schools I've been hearing from are Arizona, UCLA, USC and Navy," said Townsend.

Last summer, Townsend visited Syracuse and Notre Dame and plans to get back out to Syracuse in the spring.

Academically he has a 3.6 and will take the SAT in the spring.
