San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian defensive back D'Angelo McKenzie (6-0, 180) had a big week last week, with his first two offers coming in, both from the Pac-12.

UCLA was the first school to offer and then Utah offered the three-star.

"It meant a lot because it showed that hard work and dedication really does pay off," said McKenzie.  "And it was a surprise."

The offer from the Bruins was a big one for McKenzie.

"UCLA was my dream school growing up," said McKenzie.  "The defensive line coach, Angus McClure, was who offered me.  They offered me for free safety."

McKenzie plans to check out UCLA this month.

"I'll be going down to check out UCLA on February 21st," said McKenzie.

Utah offered at the end of the week, giving McKenzie a second Pac-12 school.

"Coach Lewis Powell offered me from Utah," said McKenzie.  "They are recruiting me as a defensive back."

McKenzie said a couple other schools have been checking him out.

"I'm also hearing from Michigan and USC," said McKenzie.   "But I don't have any top schools right now."

This spring, McKenzie is playing for Epic 7, coached by Bay Area legend Sione Taufoou.

"I am currently playing for Epic 7 for 7on7 and for camps, I will be going to a lot this summer," said McKenzie.
