4-star DE Jeremiah Martin Has Pac-12 Leader

March 14 -- San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon defensive end Jeremiah Martin has a Pac-12 school standing out to him early on...

San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon defensive end Jeremiah Martin (6-4, 230) is one of the top pass-rushers in the West in this class.

But Martin is itching to get back to action.  A foot fracture suffered in basketball has slowed his spring down, and while he attended The Opening Los Angeles regional, he'll return to action in time for The Opening Oakland.

"I'm still about two weeks from getting to run fully on it so my coach said don't risk it and rush it and wait till its all the way healthy," said Martin.

On the recruiting front, Martin has nine offers but one school is standing out to him.

"I'd say that UCLA is my leader," said Martin.  "I feel more comfortable with the school and they tell me more about it each day and I'm more comfortable with the coaching staff.  Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin) and Coach Angus (McClure) are recruiting me and they talk to me the most and I'm just really comfortable with them."

Last week, Martin's teammate at Cajon, Jhevon Hill, committed to the Bruins.

"Yeah, Jhevon already is trying to get me to go to UCLA so bad," said Martin.  "Like already trying really hard."

But Martin doesn't want to rush the process yet.

"I'm not going to decide until the middle of my senior year, after I take my visits," said Martin.  "A lot more schools are talking to me as I get closer to my senior year.  I'm still open to everybody."

One of those schools is Alabama, which will host him in a couple weeks.

"In two weeks, I'm going to Alabama and they said they want to offer," said Martin.  "Coach (Tosh) Lupoi is recruiting me.  They like me as a defensive end but they said they could move me to an outside linebacker.  I like that, as long as I'm attacking the quarterback."

A few other schools talk frequently with Martin from his offers.

"Arizona has talked to me a lot, San Diego State and Colorado have too and they've all offered," said Martin.  "Michigan offered and they're somewhat still talking to me.  I've been hearing from Boise State more too now."
