Jaden Navarrette is one of the more gifted freshman in the state and has a very nice upside to him.
Navarrette didn't play a ton for the Huskies last season but you'll be hearing his name quite a lot over the next three years. He's a two-way standout who we liked a lot early on at linebacker but he has shown this off-season he's a very talented wide receiver as well.
Navarrette is a big kid, pushing 6-3 and 205 pounds. He's a good athlete who runs well, has strong hands and has the body control to jump over a defensive back and make a play. We still think his upside is highest as a pass rushing outside 'backer and envision him playing at around 6-3-6-4, 240 pounds by the time he hits college and should develop in to a national recruit.
On the recruiting front, Navarrette landed his first offer from USC last summer before he even entered high school. He picked up offer No. 2 on Tuesday.
"I took an unofficial visit to UCLA on Tuesday and they offered me," Navarrette said. "I had a great time there and loved being around the coaches and touring the campus. I camped there last summer but this was my first time actually visiting the school and getting to see the campus and football facilities.
"Scott White is the one who offered me and they like me for linebacker. The coaches all made me feel very welcome and at home, I liked the weight room and the new football building is going to be really nice. That's one of the nicest campuses I've ever seen and I had an amazing experience."
Navarrette said he's planning to visit USC this Saturday to watch Spring Practice and plans to hit up Cal and Fresno State in April. With three years to go before he can sign anywhere, the athlete is in no hurry to make an early decision and plans to go through the recruiting process.
