4-Star UCLA Target Bryan Addison Puts Off Decision

Apr. 18 -- Gardena (Calif.) Serra athlete and UCLA target Bryan Addison was planning to make his commitment on Friday but has decided to hold off announcing and will go through the recruiting process...

We haven't seen too many athletes more impressive this off-season than Bryan Addison.

The tall, rangy 6-4 safety was one of the top players we saw at every event he attended. He shined at both the Under Armour All-American Camp and Nike The Opening Regional and also impressed on the 7v7 circuit. He's an instinctual player who covers a ton of ground, has great ball skills and is a highly competitive kid.

On the recruiting front, Addison came out with a final four of Arizona StateNebraskaOregon and UCLA on Sunday and set April 21st as a commitment date. The athlete said he no longer plans to make an early commitment.

"I decided it was too soon and I wasn't ready," Addison said. "It was going to be ASU or UCLA and I was going to talk it over with my dad on Thursday and then decide. I'm not ready to shut my recruitment down though and I still want to take my official visits.

"Plus with spring recruiting coming up, I know we'll have a lot of schools coming by the campus so I want to check out all my options before committing anywhere. My plan is to do it at our Homecoming Game during the season, that was my original plan and that's what I'm going to do now."

Addison just visited ASU and enjoyed himself on the Tempe campus.

"I was there for three days," Addison said. "It was great, I liked it a lot. It was my first time there so I was able to tour the campus, see the football facilities, meet the coaches and watch the spring game on Saturday. The team looked good and I saw an opportunity for early playing time, which is big for me.

"I didn't get to talk much with coach (Todd) Graham (head coach) but I spent a lot of time with coach (T.J) Rushing (DB coach) and coach (Donnie) Yantis (Dir. of Recruiting). Coach Rushing was real cool, we talked about a lot of things, not just football and he made me feel really welcome there."

Addison's older brother Joseph Bryant is on the track team at ASU and he said spending the weekend with him made the visit even more special.

"We're very close so it was great to be around him," Addison said. "If I were to choose ASU, it would be good to have family there that could look out for me. We spent the whole weekend together and that was a lot of fun. It definitely helps ASU that he's there because you always want to have that support system in place."

Addison has yet to visit Nebraska or Oregon and even though it's close to home, hasn't done a full unofficial visit to UCLA either. Delaying his decision will give him time to do that.

"I'm going to take official visits to Nebraska and Oregon for sure," Addison said. "I was just at UCLA for the Tom Lemming photo shoot but I want to go back up there and meet with all the coaches and do the full campus tour. I want to take my time right now and I no longer even have a final four, I'm basically open to everyone and starting from scratch.

"I didn't have USC on my final list because they have a lot of depth at safety but they're back in it too, just like everyone else. I want to go through the spring, see who is most interested and see what new offers come in and then I'll narrow my list at end of the summer and plan my official trips for the fall."
