UCLA Likes West Region's No. 1 Offensive Guard Sam Vakalahi at Defensive Tackle

May 9 -- Salt Lake City (Utah) East four-star lineman Sam Vakalahi drew a visit from UCLA assistant coach Angus McClure last week and plans to check out campus this summer...

Sam Vakalahi is one of the prospects with the most momentum out West this spring evaluation period, with new offers from a few schools, including Alabama and Tennessee.

The four-star offensive guard from Salt Lake City (Utah) East can play on either side of the ball, using his strength to hold off defenders as a blocker but also the agility to be a force defensively. Vakalahi, the No. 1-rated offensive guard in the West region, told Scout.com he hopes to get out to Tuscaloosa and Knoxville now that he holds offers from both SEC programs, and has a trip to Washington scheduled for this coming weekend.

Vakalahi also drew a visit from UCLA last week and the Bruins view him as a defensive tackle, which intrigues the 6-foot-2, 296-pound prospect. He intends to make it back to Los Angeles for a visit this summer.
