Elite shooting guard M.J. Walker announced his verbal commitment to Florida State Wednesday morning.
He chose FSU over the Bruins as well as Virginia Tech, Ohio State and Georgia Tech.
He officially visited UCLA in mid-May, and there was some buzz in the last day or so that UCLA might be the pick. Walker kept his opinion very close to the vest, but FSU was considered the leader, having been on him the longest and hardest.
Walker's choice of FSU over UCLA is softened a bit since Thomas Welsh and Aaron Holiday both announced they were withdrawing their names from the NBA Draft and returning to UCLA for the 2017-2018 season.
UCLA's roster for next season would have been particularly thin in the backcourt if Holiday had remained in the Draft and Walker opted for FSU.
