Mountain View (Calif.) St. Francis 2019 athlete Maurice Wilmer is ready for a breakout junior season.
Wilmer was a big contributor to St. Francis as a sophomore, but with teammates gone to the Big Ten and Pac-12, more will be expected from him.
Schools are also eager to see him this fall.
Wilmer visited Stanford for their Junior Day last month.
"It was amazing," said Wilmer. "The campus is unreal. We saw all their virtual reality headsets and that was incredible. I got to meet Coach (David) Shaw and Coach (Duane) Akina there."
Wilmer also visited Cal in the spring.
Wilmer said he's hoping to get down to Los Angeles to see UCLA and USC and up to Washington.
For college, Wilmer is open to either side of the ball.
"I'm being recruited mostly for DB, either corner or safety, but I'm playing both ways this year so I could end up being an athlete," said Wilmer.
Wilmer is eager for his junior year, especially with an opportunity to step up with the departures of Bennett Williams (Illinois) and Cyrus Habibi-Likio (Oregon).
"We're going to be a young team but we have a lot of talent," said Wilmer.
Academically, he has a 3.4 and will take the SAT as a junior.
