Four-star Grant Sherfield is one of the few underclassmen at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, and so far he has fit right in. A natural scorer, Sherfield is trying to diversify his game while also staying true to who he is, and what has drawn the attention of college coaches.
"It has been a good camp," said Sherfield. "It is picking up as it goes and I am learning a lot of things. It is great competing against all of the other top players."
In terms of his recruitment, Sherfield said, "The phone has been crazy. I have been hearing from a lot of schools, and it is pretty good to have that attention."
The most recent offer for Sherfield came from Illinois, and he is intrigued with the school.
"They got in touch with my dad after the Gauntlet in Atlanta, and then they called again last night before offering me this morning," said Sherfield.
He continued about the Illini, "I know that Coach (Jamall) Walker is from Wichita, and that is where I was born. Also Coach (Brad) Underwood recruited me when he was at Oklahoma State so we have a bond there."
Being from Kansas, Sherfield has always followed the Jayhawks, and continues to be a target of theirs.
"It is cool to hear from them," said Sherfield. "I hear from Coach Jerrance (Howard) and he is a good guy, and it is home, so it is good to hear from them."
Another school that has been all over Sherfield is UCLA, and the Bruins have made their presence felt recently on the recruiting trail.
"Since yesterday every coach on the staff has called me to check in on me and see how I was doing," said Sherfield of UCLA. "They were all just saying how interested they were."
For now Sherfield says he is in no hurry to make a decision, and he continues to evaluate all of his options.
