Erick Lobos, 6-3, 285, Los Angeles (Calif.) Venice, is one of the hottest recruits in the west this fall. Greg Biggins, the west coast recruiting analyst for, says that Lobos, from his play so far this season, is among the top five defensive tackle prospects in the west.

Lobos, who has 11 sacks in four games, attended the UCLA game on Saturday and said he was very impressed with the win over Washington. "I liked it a lot," he said. "Being at that game was fun. There was a great feeling in the second half."

Lobos said he's been offered by Washington, Arizona, and Utah, and that Washington State indicated they'd be offering soon. He said he's also been hearing from UCLA and USC since the beginning of his season. "Yeah, UCLA coach (Eric) Bieniemy, I've been talking to him a lot." v He said that since Washington was the first to offer he probably favored them, until recently. "The UCLA game might have changed that a bit. I really like UCLA after going to the game."

Lobos said he has around a 3.0 GPA and scored a passing 880 on his SAT.

So, would he consider committing quickly if UCLA offered? "It would definitely change things if they offered. But I don't think I want to commit early. I want to wait to make a commitment and make a good decision."

Lobos' Venice teammates are Ryan Graves, the receiver committed to UCLA, as well as safety Mesphin Forrester, who hasn't been offered by the Bruins as of yet but who says UCLA is his favorite school.
