#4-Ranked DE Has UCLA High on List

The UCLA coaches are stretching all the way to New Jersey this recruiting season, pursuing the #4-ranked defensive end in the country, Jersey's Dwayne Hendricks, and so far, it's paying off...

UCLA doesn't recruit the New Jersey area very often, but one prospect it's aggressively pursuing this year is Millville senior defensive end Dwayne Hendricks (6-4, 250).

The No. 4-ranked defensive end by TheInsiders.com, Hendricks has nearly 40 offers from around the country, and while he will have his choice of schools to pick from, he has narrowed it down to a "solid ten schools."

Hendricks list includes Michigan, Miami, Iowa, Notre Dame, Ohio State, UCLA, Virginia, Tennessee, Nebraska and Oklahoma, with all but Oklahoma offering.

"I have visits set up with Iowa and Miami for the next two months and at Michigan this weekend," Hendricks said. "I'm looking forward to going to Michigan. I also am pretty sure I am going to visit UCLA. I have never been to the West Coast before. I've never been farther than Michigan. I want to check out the weather, the school, all that."

Hendricks is being recruited to UCLA by defensive line coach Don Johnson. "Coach Johnson is a real nice guy. He talks a lot to me, and tells me about the West Coast and UCLA. He's from Jersey, too."

On the year, Hendricks has 44 tackles, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery, but he says his numbers would be higher if he wasn't being double- and triple-teamed.

Hendricks plans to take all five visits and says he will most likely announce his decision at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio in January.

He has a 3.4 GPA and scored a 900 on his SAT, fully qualifying him academically.
