Bruins Land Commitment #13

Just days after saying he wanted to go through the recruiting process, Idris Moss has committed to UCLA, giving the Bruins a major commitment at a position of need...

"I committed last night," Moss said. "I know I said I was planning to take my visits but the more I thought about it, I just realized UCLA had everything I was looking for in a school and it's in my own backyard. They're strong academically, their football program is doing great and my family can go and watch all my games.

"As good as UCLA is playing, I knew that other players might want to start committing too, and I didn't want to take a chance that my spot wouldn't be there any longer. I'm calling the other coaches and telling them I'm committed and won't be taking any trips except to UCLA."

Moss has some Bruin ties in his family as his father Ricky attended UCLA and got his Masters there as well.

"The whole family is very excited about this," Gretta Moss, Idris' mother said. "We always wanted him to go to UCLA but we didn't dare push him there. We wanted him to decide on his own. Early on, he didn't even mention UCLA but all of a sudden, he started to really like them and when he told us he was going to commit there last night, Ricky and I were so happy we almost started crying. Now we can help him get acclimated for college since he's so close and we can go to all of his games and watch him grow up."

Moss is a tremendous athlete who plays both quarterback and defensive back for Rialto (Calif.) Eisenhower. He was recruited as an athlete by UCLA, and more than likely will play corner. He clocked a 4.55 in the 40 at the NIKE Camp and has excellent quickness and balance.
