Kelly, 6-0, 210 pounds has taken over the primary running duties this season with Jackie Bates out for the season with a fractured foot. The athlete has shined and was the player of the game against Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian last Saturday after rushing for 106 yards on 15 carries and scored two touchdowns.
"They were a tough team, we knew they would be," Kelly said. "They were physical and their quarterback was tough to get to because he starts about 10 yards deep in the shot gun and then drops back even farther once he gets the ball."
"I have visits set with ASU (Dec. 12) and Oregon (Jan. 9). I'm also going to visit Washington and Oregon State but don't have dates yet. My top three right now would be Cal, Oregon and ASU. I'm not sure if I take an official to Cal right now.
"UCLA called me for the first time after my game last Saturday and if they offer me, I'll definitely visit there. UCLA and USC were kind of my dream schools before this whole recruiting thing got started. Coach (John) Embree said they really liked me and said I would fit in well with their defense at weak side linebacker. Basically, everyone is recruiting me at outside 'backer or safety and either is fine by me. If UCLA doesn't offer, I'll use that last trip to Cal."
Academically, Kelly is carrying 2.6 GPA and just took the ACT this past Saturday.
"I took the SAT a couple of weeks ago but haven't gotten the results back yet," Kelly said. "I feel good about it though. I scored an 1100 on my practice exam so I'm confident I did well on the real one."
