Through Destrehan's first eight games, the Wildcats are 6-2 and Richard has been a big part of that. He has 67 tackles, 18 for loss, 7 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.
"We have two more games until the playoffs start, so we are just trying to be focused on the field," said Richard.
The recruiting outlook for Richard has been pretty much the same throughout his season, being rated the No. 9 defensive tackle prospect by TheInsiders.com.
Richard has a top six of Notre Dame, UCLA, Colorado, Miami, Stanford and LSU, and already has one visit under his belt, and two more set up. "I tripped to Notre Dame (the weekend of October 17th), and it was a nice place to be. Everything about it was cool."
Richard has also set up a trip to UCLA set up for November 14-16th, the weekend the Bruins host Oregon in their home finale. The week before, he will be in Boulder visiting Colorado from the 7th-9th. He tentatively has a trip to Stanford set up the second weekend in December, but said he "may trip to Stanford or Miami."
In addition, because of his proximity to LSU, he doesn't plan to take an official visit to LSU, having gone there enough on unofficial visits to get to know the school.
"I'm playing in the All-American Bowl (in San Antonio) and I am looking forward to that. I'll take all my trips and probably decide by the end of December."
He has a 4.0 GPA and scored a 29 on his ACT, fully qualifying him for college.
