While Zach Miller is getting most of the love for Arizona tight ends, another one getting attention from college recruiters is Phoenix (Ariz.) Moon Valley tight end Andrew Pettes (6-5, 230).

The athletic pass catcher has had a strong season so far, with 28 catches for 420 yards and 8 touchdowns to date.

"We run a pretty balanced offense, so I'll catch the ball as much as our receivers and block the other half of the time," said Pettes.

Pettes has six offers so far, from Arizona State, Arizona, Washington State, Oregon, Colorado State and Northwestern. He has taken one official, to Arizona State, but is looking forward to an official visit to UCLA the second weekend in December.

"I am going out to UCLA on December 12th. They haven't offered, but they have hinted and I am expecting them to offer when I take my official visit out there," said Pettes.

A fan of Tennessee growing up, Pettes has his sights set on playing in the Pac-10, ince that is the conference he knows the best. "I watch Pac-10 games all the time. It's cool watching teams that are recruiting me play each other. I watch most of the games I can. I have no preference right now, though, which school I am leaning to."

His main contact with UCLA has been tight ends coach Gary Bernardi, but he has also met Head Coach Karl Dorrell, who Pettes calls "a real nice guy and a good coach too."

He is carrying a 3.0 GPA and is qualified academically.
