Olson Close, But No Decision -- Yet

Ben Olson, 6-5, 205, Thousand Oaks (Calif.) High, said he's relatively close to making a decision, but hasn't made it yet.

"Probably within the next month," Olson said. "I just don't think I'm ready quite yet. I just need some more time. I've been concentrating on my senior season, trying to stay focused on that."

Olson said that it's still between BYU, UCLA and Stanford. When prodded a bit, he did admit that BYU might have a slight advantage. "Yeah, I guess BYU is leading. But it's not huge. UCLA is right up there, though. And then Stanford."

Olson said that he more than likely won't take any official visits by the time he verbally commits. "I've been to the schools I'm considering. UCLA is so close, so I wouldn't really need to. I went to the BYU/UNLV game just to watch them play in person."

The big quarterback said that he plans on going to UCLA's game this Saturday against Washington. "I wanted to go to the Ohio State game but the game was so early and we watch film on our team until about 12. Now the Washington game is at 12:30, too. But I really want to go to this one, so I'm going to try to work it out."

Olson, who is a Mormon, said he still hasn't decided whether he'll take his mission straight out of high school.
