Speer Still Waiting

With West Hill (Calif.) Chaminade High School's loss to Mira Costa in the CIF Playoffs, offensive line prospect Adam Speer (6-3, 265) has moved into basketball season, but not before he talked about the schools recruiting him for football.

Speer has a favorite in Oregon State, but Boston College, UCLA and Arizona are all still in the mix for his services.

"Oregon State is probably my favorite. I am taking a trip there on January 9th. Boston College is still there, with UCLA and Arizona. I haven't talked to anyone on the new Arizona staff yet," said Speer.

Speer is also holding out hope that Notre Dame will look West one more time (the Irish already have commitments from Mater Dei's Brandon Nicolas and Arizona's John Kadous).

Speer was a figure at several southland football games this past season, going to four UCLA games and a pair of USC games.

One of his teammates, wide receiver Marcus Everett is also being recruited by the Bruins. Asked if they had ever brought up the possibility of playing together in college, Speer said, "We've talked about it. It might happen, it may not, but it would be cool."

Speer was also being recruited by Boise State and Fresno State, and the Bulldogs have offered, but the allure of playing in the Pac-10 is something that piques his interest. He has been selected to play in the CaliFlorida Bowl and expects to take a couple of his visits and then will make his decision.

He has a 3.5 GPA and scored an 1100 on the SAT.
