UCLA Looking at JCs

We've learned there was a junior college tight end who took an official visit to UCLA last weekend, and a JC defensive tackle took an unofficial visit this week. There could be more JC prospect at other positions, too...

UCLA is departing from tradition, and looking more at JC prospects this recruiting season than ever.

Perhaps it's biggest target is JC DE Kyle Morgan, who visited last weekend.

But it's also been learned that UCLA had an official visit from another JC prospect who isn't committed to the Bruins: tight end Matt Raney, 6-5, 260, Phoenix (Ariz.) College. We erroneously reported that the visit was from Arizona high school tight end Mike Barr when it was in fact Raney.

Compton City College defensive tackle Cleodis Floyd (6-1, 290) unofficially visited UCLA this week.

Floyd is a full qualifier as a redshirt freshman, so he has 3 years to play 3. He went to Portland State out of high school, but has gotten quite a bit bigger and stronger since then. He now can bench 225 pounds, 30 times.

Arizona State and Washington State are also looking at Floyd.

And the most recent word is that UCLA is recruiting some JC quarterbacks. As we hear more about who the JC quarterback prospects are, we'll pass along the information.
