With a day of practice under his belt Monday, Kelly was impressed with the talent on the California squad. "We have some great receivers and defensive backs out here," Kelly said. "It is so much fun to play this game when you get challenged by all-star quality players."
As far as recruiting goes Kelly has cut his list of schools down. "I have a final three of Oregon, Cal and UCLA," Kelly said. "Oregon is recruiting me the hardest. Back in May when they offered me a scholarship they were the first to school to offer me. They have kept in touch with me since then. Every time they get a chance to call me they do, so Oregon would be the school recruiting me the hardest."
Kelly has one last visit, well, probably. "I am going on what will probably be my last visit to Oregon on January 9th, and I will probably decide after that visit."
But this is not a lock for Oregon. Kelly is keeping an open mind about his decision. "I had real good trips to Cal and UCLA. Cal is close to home and the education at Berkeley is great. At UCLA I got to spend time with (former teammate) Maurice (Drew), and I like the players and coaches at UCLA. I like coach Oregon's coach Belotti a lot too. All the schools are great, and I don't think I can make a bad decision."
Oregon is recruiting Kelly as a safety while UCLA and Cal are hoping Kelly will become their weak-side linebacker. He finished his senior season with 118 tackles; 1,023 rushing yards, 20 TDs, and 3 INTs.
Kelly is a full qualifier.
