Update on Marcus Everett

The wide receiver prospect from West Hills Chaminade, Marcus Everett, said UCLA is his favorite, but still has one more official visit planned for this weekend, and could take more...

Wide receiver Marcus Everett, 6-1, 195, 4.5, West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade Prep, just finished a week of practicing and playing in the Califlorida All-star game, and is now turning back to recruiting.

While it was thought Everett could commit to UCLA on his official visit in December, he hasn't advanced that far in the process, but does has final group of schools that are on his list. "I am down to UCLA, Oregon, Washington State, Boston College and Duke. My top three are UCLA, Oregon and Washington State. While Washington State is recruiting me the hardest I would say I am favoring UCLA right now because of the location. It is also a great school academically, and I could fit in perfectly over there," Everett said.

While UCLA, Washington State, Boston College and Duke are recruiting Everett to play wide receiver, Oregon is recruiting him as a defensive back. Everett had four picks as a senior. He also had more than 1,350 yards receiving this season. Everett does prefer to play on offense.

Everett is also the starting point guard in basketball at Chaminade, and he has received scholarship offers to play basketball in college. Everett said football is the sport he prefers, but he wouldn't mind the opportunity to play both sports on the next level. "It is a possibility. So far I spoke with the Washington State basketball coach about it."

Everett went on to talk about his visit to UCLA. "It was great. I had been there before and had seen the school. It really gave me time to bond with the players and coaches. It was a good experience." He also said that his host on the UCLA trip made a great impression. "Justin (London) is real cool. If I go to UCLA I will definitely hang out with him."

Asked about the coaches that are recruiting him Everett said, "I really like the receivers' coach at Washington State and UCLA. Both those coaches really stand out. They are both technicians who will get you on the right track to the next level. I like coach (Karl) Dorrell at UCLA too. He is a good guy to talk to and a good coach. I like what his vision is for the program."

Everett is tripping to Oregon on January 9th. He may take one more trip to Boston College or Duke, but he is not positive whether he will need to take any more trips after Oregon. "Most likely I probably will make a decision after the Oregon trip."

UCLA has also made a great impression on Everett's family. "My mom wants me to go to UCLA because she would like me to stay close to her, but the final decision will be mine."
