OL Prospect Ioane Still Possibility

UCLA hasn't yet offered offensive line prospect Jon Ioane from Tustin a scholarship, but the Bruins are still showing him quite a bit of attention, and Ioane gives us an update...

One of the big offensive linemen that participated in the CaliFlorida Bowl is Jon Ioane, 6-4, 335, 5.3, Tustin (Calif.) High. Ioane is looking at a final four schools for his services.

Oregon State, Washington State, UCLA and Kansas State are the finalist for Ioane. He said, "UCLA is recruiting me the hardest. They are sending me mail every day. Coach Axman has been recruiting me." UCLA, though, has yet to offer Iaone a scholarship.

Ioane has yet to take a single official visit, but wants to take complete his visits before making a decision. "January 9th I am going to Oregon State, January 14th I am going to Washington State, and the next weekend I am going to Kansas State. I think I am only going to take three official visits."

Ioane is presently scheduled to visit UCLA on January 23, but may not use his official visit. "I just recently decided that I may not trip to UCLA, but you never know what may happen. I have been to UCLA so often already."

At one time UCLA was Ioane's favorite and it was rumored that he was about to commit to UCLA, but now when asked if he has a favorite, Ioane said, "Not really. I am pretty wide open. Right now I am leaning more to Oregon State and Washington State," Ioane said.

One reason he is open was an in-house visit he had with a head coach. "Mike Riley came to my house and sat down and had dinner with me. He made a real good impression on me. He is a real nice guy too."
