2005 Focus: Micah Downs

Micah Downs, the #3-ranked small forward in the west coast 2005 class, had a huge game Friday night with a number of college assistant coaches in attendance, including schools from the Big 12, Pac-10 and WCC...

Micah Downs, 6-7 JR SF Bothel (Wash.) High, is having a terrific junior year, currently averaging about twenty points a game. Downs, who didn't get seen much this past summer, is on the radar of several high-major programs.

Last Friday night, Downs had a huge game in a 66-60 win over Roosevelt. Downs scored twenty points in the game and pulled down a school-record twenty-five rebounds. In attendance at the game were coaches from Kansas, Washington State, and Pepperdine, as well as UCLA assistant Donny Daniels.

Downs said he hasn't given much thought to his recruitment just yet. "I'm not really thinking about it much," said Downs. "I want to focus on my season and then think about it when the season is done."

Previously, Downs told us that he does think highly of Kansas. We asked if that's still the case. "Yeah, I like Kansas right now, but I'm still pretty wide open," said Downs.

Downs told us that Kansas, Washington State and Washington have all been out to practices at his high school.

Downs told us that he hasn't received his grades yet for his first semester this year, but he said he's doing fine academically.
