UCLA Doing Very Well With Texas Corner

Willie Andrews, one of the best corner prospects in Texas, has set three visits, one to UCLA, and talks very favorably about the Bruins...

Willie Andrews, 5-10, 180, Longview (Tex.) High, has arranged three official visits and said he has a leader among them.

"UCLA is probably my leader," Andrews said. "They've showed a lot of interest and I really like the way they're playing."

Andrews, who is being recruited for cornerback even though he's playing tailback for his team, said he'll visit UCLA on December 14th. The week before, on December 7th, he'll visit Notre Dame, and then on January 11th he'll officially visit Alabama. Andrews also said that he plans to visit Texas A&M, but didn't have any plans for a fifth visit. "Right now it's those four," Andrews said.

Andrews, who has been clocked in the mid 4.4 range, said he's looking for a college that has a good football program and a place where he feels he can fit it. "I want a successful football program, one with good tradition. And then I want to go somewhere I get along well with the people and the coaches." He also plans to be a math major and said the quality of the math department is a big concern.

Andrews said his family doesn't have a problem with him going away to college. "No, they're cool with it. They want me to do what's best for me."

His plan is to take his official visits and then, sometime in January, sit down with his family and coach to decide.

Andrews said he has a 2.96 GPA and scored a 1010 on the SAT.
