Chris Vaughn Wants to Narrow List

The wide receiver from Connecticut, Chris Vaughn, has three finalists, and he wants to take the next step and narrow it to just two. He'll entertain visitors at his home and then try to make the cut...

An arduous process is slowly coming to an end for Oakdale (Conn.) St. Thomas More receiver Chris Vaughn, 6-4, 205. But with no decision yet made, there is still time for stress for the East Coast pass catcher.

"I have three schools right now I favor, and I am trying to trim those three to two," said Vaughn. "It's going to be tough to eliminate the other two schools because I like each school."

Vaughn has narrowed his top three down to Iowa, Notre Dame and UCLA.

"Those three offer the best opportunity for me, and each school was great when I visited. It's hard to separate them from each other," said Vaughn. "Michigan State, I just didn't feel comfortable at and Boston College, there wasn't a lot of open playing time at wide receiver."

With his recruiting trips all taken, Vaughn is using this week to have each of the coaching staffs of his three finalists come in for in-home visits. "Iowa was here last night. Coach (Kirk) Ferentz was here. UCLA and Coach (Karl) Dorrell and Coach (Jon) Embree will be here on Friday night, and Notre Dame and Coach (Tyrone) Willingham will be here on Saturday. Hopefully after they all visit, I can narrow it down to two schools."

With Signing Day less than a week away, Vaughn hopes to know his decision by the time he eliminates one of the schools. "Hopefully I can make a decision as soon as possible. It's getting down to signing and I just want to make sure I know the best place for me. I just want this process to be over."

Vaughn is fully qualified academically.
