Martellus Bennett, the 6-7, 240-lb. power forward from Houston Taylor, has been offered by UCLA football as a tight end.

The report is that UCLA assistant Kerry Keating has been scouting/recruiting him for basketball and that UCLA has indicated to Bennett that they're also very interested in him playing basketball.

This was the front-page story on Bennett we published last week: Bennett-- Tracy Pierson

We had reported a couple of weeks ago that two players, originally from the Los Angeles area, could transfer to UCLA.

It's still uncertain whether those players could transfer. The latest is the two players are attempting to see if they can get admitted to UCLA academically. -- The BRO Staff

5-9 junior-to-be Nnamdi Ohaeri, who played back-up safety last season, will be given a shot at cornerback this spring.

Ohaeri is considered one of the best athletes on the football team and a great hitter. UCLA is trying to find a replacement for departed corner Matt Ware, who chose to forego his senior season and put his name in the NFL draft. -- The BRO Staff

Eddie Miller, a freshman quarterback at Louisville this past season, will walk on at UCLA next year.

Miller, who threw for over 7,000 yards at Venice High School, will be enrolled in time to participate in spring practice. -- Tracy Pierson

Many have panicked about the academics of Lorenzo Mata, the 6-9 PF/C who is committed to UCLA, recently.

Put your fears to rest.

Mata has achieved a passing SAT score. He has also raised his GPA into the mid 2 range. It's anticipated it will continue to rise after his last semester.

So, barring a completely collapse in his second semester, Mata will be a Bruin. -- Tracy Pierson
